The Honorable William K. Richardson

88, of 1635 N. West Street Galesburg, IL, died at 8:12 AM Monday December 31, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.
He was born on December 6, 1913 in Galesburg to Marshall and Jessie (Custer) Richardson.
He is survived by a sister, Miss Dorothea Richardson of Galesburg, IL, nieces and nephews. A brother, Harry C. Richardson, and two sisters, Sarabeth Welch and Jayne Croson, preceded him in death.
He graduated from Galesburg High School, Knox College and the University of Michigan Law School.
After graduating law school he returned to Galesburg and established a law office. In 1943, he was appointed the circuit clerk and recorder of deeds in Knox County. The following year he successfully ran for the office. He served in that office until 1966. In 1966, he was appointed to the bench as a judge in the Ninth Judicial Circuit. He retired from the bench in 1982. He maintained regular office hours at the law firm of Hattery, Simpson & West in downtown Galesburg.
In 1959 he was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 42nd International Convention held in New York, New York.
He had been a member of the Galesburg Lions Club since 1938; having served the association as a club secretary and president, and as cabinet secretary, zone chairman, deputy district governor and district governor, as well as an international director.
He was a presenter at USA/Canada forums and at several Club Improvement Workshops for Multiple District 1. In honor of his contributions to the association, he had received seven International President’s Awards, the Senior Master Key and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a member by the association. He was also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
He was also active in other community organizations such as the United Way of Knox County, the Salvation Army, Crime Stoppers and the First Presbyterian Church. He received a Community Service Award from the Galesburg Chamber of Commerce. In December 2001 he celebrated his 50th year on the Galesburg Public Library Board. At that time the Alliance Library System also recognized him for his years of outstanding service.
His funeral will be 10:00 AM Saturday January 5, 2002 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Norman Myer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday January 4, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Mr. R. Bruce Faulkner

93, of 717 Florence Ave. Galesburg, IL, died at 9:05 AM Monday December 31, 2001 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL.
He was born on August 2, 1908 in Wataga IL to George and Mary (Rommel) Faulkner. He married Wilma B. Tuncil in Galesburg on February 12, 1934. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2001.
He is survived by a son, Robert Faulkner of Effingham, IL, a daughter, Barbara Harvey of Lake Villa, IL, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren. A brother and four sisters preceded him in death.
He farmed in the Wataga area until 1957. He then worked at Butler Manufacturing for 20 years, retiring in 1985. He then worked at the former F & M Bank for 10 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church.
His funeral will be 10:30 AM Thursday January 3, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Bruce Naylor officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Thursday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church.

Mrs. Ruby M. Peterson

84, of 481 E. Dayton St. Galesburg, IL, died at 5:05 AM Sunday December 30, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.
She was born on October 28, 1917 in Plymouth IL to Hillery and Ella (Wright) Wheeler. She married Lowell Twidwell in Carthage in 1935. After his death, she married Frank Peterson in Galesburg in 1953.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty VanDell of Galesburg, IL, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren. A daughter, Lorena B. Knuth, four brothers and a special fiend, William Blank, preceded her in death.
She worked at the former Gales Products, a division of Outboard Marine Corporation for 32 years, retiring in 1978. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School and a member of the Women of the Moose, Eastern Star and Bethel Shrine.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Thursday January 3, 2002 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg, with Rev. Don Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Western Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross or Charity of the Donors Choice.

Mrs. Neva L. Billings

71, of 1315 S. Farnham St. Galesburg, IL, died at 9:51 AM Friday December 28, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.
She was born on July 26, 1930 in St. David IL to Alta Alonza and Emma Matilda (Larson) Thompson.
She is survived by three sons, Daniel Billings of Cleburne, TX, Stephen Billings of Dahinda, IL and William Billings of Paducadah, TX, a foster daughter, Rebecca Brown of WI, a sister, Jaye Cannon of Galesburg, IL, a brother, Lonny Thompson of Independence, MO and four grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Friday January 4, 2002 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Kirk Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Mr. Van D. C. Foutch

75, of 3295 N. Nixon Ave. Springfield, MO, died Thursday December 27, 2001 at his home.
He was born on January 20, 1926 in Vermont IL to Harley and Cordia Mae (Servis) Foutch. He married Mickey Storm. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Verne Foutch of Aurora, MO, two brothers, Donavan (and Patricia) Foutch of Wataga, IL and Lugene (and Nancy) Foutch of Abingdon, IL, two grandchildren and a great grandchild. A sister, Frances Foutch, preceded him in death.
He owned C & F Electric from 1957 to 1969. He was a Navy veteran of World War II receiving three Bronze Stars.
His funeral will be 1:00 PM Saturday January 5, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Bishop Steve Meacham officiating. Burial will be in Vermont (IL) Cemetery. Mr. Robert E. Moore

62, of 1250 W. Carl Sandburg Drive Galesburg, IL, died at 12:20 AM Tuesday December 25, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.
He was born on August 8, 1939 in Galesburg to Robert A. and Agnes M. (Stratton) Moore.
He is survived by a sister, Linda Wilson of Monmouth, IL, nieces and nephews.
He was a driver for Distiller and Brewers for 10years then for the Butternut-Sunbeam Bakery for 24 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a 1958 graduate of Galesburg High School and a member of the Teamsters.

Mrs. Dorothy J. Sims

80, of 121 W. Simmons St. Galesburg, IL, died at 6:42 AM Tuesday December 25, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.
She was born on April 23, 1921 in Morrison IL to William J. and Ivy M. (Bechtel) Lane. She married Forrest L. Sims in Kahoka MO on December 20, 1941. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jerry (and Connie) Sims of New London, IA and Forrest Sims, Jr. of Galesburg, IL, a daughter, Joyce (and Terry) Sims-Lufkin of San Angelo, TX, a brother, William Lane of Dahinda, IL, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A sister and a granddaughter, Carmen Sims, preceded her in death.
She worked in the cafeteria at Churchill Junior High School for 18 years, retiring in 1983. She was a 1939 graduate of Galesburg High School and a member of the Covenant Church.
Her funeral will be 1:00 PM Saturday December 29, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Thomas Ek officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Mr. Raymond W. Swanson

86, of 506 Janice Lane Galesburg, IL, died at 12:07 PM Monday December 24, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.
He was born on April 1, 1915 in Riceton, Saskatchewan, Canada to Earle N, and Edna (White) Swanson. He married Janice Clair Young in Galesburg on January 13, 1940. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Judi (and Bill) Kiefer of Peoria, AZ, two sons, James (and Pam) Swanson of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Larry Swanson of Elgin, IL, a sister, Leota Rogers of Haysville, NC, ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He had been a partner in the Swanson Seed Farm since 1930. He was a graduate of the Sparta Township High School in Wataga, IL and attended the Browns Business College in Galesburg. He was a member of the East Main Congregational United Church of Christ, Alpha Masonic Lodge #155, the Scottish Rite, the Mohammed Shrine, Elks Lodge #894, the Knox County Farm Bureau, the Producers Livestock Association and the Orpheum Restoration Committee. He was a 52-year member and past president of the Knox County (IL) Fair Board. He was also a member of the Northern Illinois State Association of Agricultural Fairs, the Northern Illinois Colt Association and the Showman’s League of America.
His funeral will be 10:00 AM Saturday December 29, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Robin Faull officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Mrs. Helen M. Fisch

90, of 1145 Frank St. Galesburg, IL, died at 3:45 PM Monday December 24, 2001 at Galesburg Terrace, Galesburg, IL.
She was born on July 5, 1911 in Libertyville IL to Ellis and Alice Edwards. She married Donald Picher in Rossville IL in 1929, William H. Mast in Galesburg and Cecil Fisch in Phoenix AZ. All preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean Billings of Galesburg, IL, two sons, Chester Pilcher of Seneca, SC and Harold Pilcher of Ft. Meyers, FL, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. A brother preceded her in death.
She was a sales clerk at Sears and Bergners. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Graveside memorial services will be 10:00 AM Thursday January 3, 2002 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Larsen officiating. Memorials may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.

Mr. Rowen W. Aldrich

88, of 1380 N. Seminary St. Galesburg, IL, died at 11:55 PM Sunday December 23, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.
He was born on September 13, 1913 in Galesburg to Julian Karl and Isal (Idian) Aldrich. He married Ruth L. Young in Little Rock AR on April 4, 1942. She preceded him in death on July 22, 1995.
He is survived by a son, David Aldrich of Galesburg, IL and two brothers, Larry Aldrich of Galesburg, IL and Karl Aldrich, Jr. of Springfield, IL.
He taught in Galesburg Community School District #205 for 43 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Galesburg High School in 1932, of Knox College in 1936 and of the University of Illinois in 1946. He served in the Army during World War II. A retired Lt. Colonel, he belonged to the Reserve Office Association. He also was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Ducks Unlimited, Inc. He contributed duck hunting articles to magazines such as "Field and Stream" and "Fins and Feathers."
Private graveside memorial services will be Friday December 28, 2001 at Knoxville (IL) Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Siems officiating. Memorials may be made to National Wildlife Foundation.
