Mrs. Pearl E. Blevins

77, of Bakersfield, Ca, formerly of Galesburg, IL, died at 8:45 PM Thursday June 27, 2002 at her home.
She was born November 25, 1924 in Galesburg, IL to Fred W. and Clara Anna Rebecca (Schultz) Greene. She first married Frank E. McDowell January 8, 1941 in Galesburg. She later married Robert L. Blevins on November 24, 1973 in Galesburg, IL. He preceded her in death February 5, 1983.
She is survived by a son, Clifford Wayne McDowell of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Carol Anne Cole of Bakersfield, CA and Dixie Lee Weller of Green Castle, VA; a brother, Harold Greene of Galesburg, IL and a sister, Gladys Anderson of Abingdon, IL, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and a grandchild.
She was an assembler for the former Outboard Marine Corp, Gale Product Division in Galesburg, IL for over 20 years and retired in 1983. She was an avid golfer and bowler. She lived in Galesburg most of her life.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. L. Marguerite McClure

73, of 100 State St., Henderson, IL, died at 6:47 PM Wednesday, June 26, 2002 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born November 18, 1928 in Herington, KS to Fred L. and Lottie (White) Wood. She married Marion L. “Mac” McClure in Rock Island on December 6, 1953. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1980.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandy (and Dick) Rosenberg of Henderson, IL and Betty (and Delbert) Smith of Abingdon, IL, a sister, Juanita Wood in Texas, and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
She was a register nurse working at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for 2 years during the Polio epidemic. She then worked at OSF St. Mary Medical Center for 24 years, retiring in 1988. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1948 and from the Moline Lutheran School of Nursing. She was a member of the Henderson United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday June 29, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. David Kramer officiating. Visitation will be 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Friday June 28, 2002 at the Chapel. Burial will be in Henderson Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the OSF St. Mary’s Foundation or Henderson United Methodist Church.

Rev. Calvin O. Spinks

62, of 590 W. South St., Galesburg, IL died at 11:01 AM Wednesday, June 26, 2002 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born July 10, 1939 in Bolivar, TN to A.C. and Laura (Blalock) Spinks. He married Ruth Baker in East St. Louis, IL.
He is survived by his mother, Laura Spinks of Galesburg, IL, three sons, Calvin Eugene Spinks of St. Louis, MO, Christopher Eric Foster and Shane DuPree Sibley, both of Galesburg, IL, two daughters, RayLynn Cunningham of Galesburg, IL and Terez Spinks of St. Louis, MO, four brothers, Elester Spinks, Curtis Spinks, Heston Spinks and Corina James Spinks, all of Galesburg, IL, eight sisters, Mattie Jean Mixon and Emma Gene Sargent, both of Galesburg, IL, Esterline Duncan of Peoria, IL, LouAnnette Mayberry of Bloomington, IL, Cinthia Rita Spinks of St. Paul, MN, Tuesday Renee Spinks of Minneapolis, MN, Doreen Cherry-Spinks and Thersa Stephaine Spinks, both of St. Louis, MO, and 20 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, 2 brothers, and a son, A.C. Spinks.
He was a minister since May 22, 1988 and was the Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Galesburg. He was the director of Lighthouse Christian Life Center, past president of the Minister’s Alliance, and was the vice-moderator of the West Central Baptist Association. He received his GED from Galesburg High School and attended the Mooney Institute in Dallas, TX. He also attended the Illinois Baptist College, Galesburg. He lived most of his life in Galesburg. He was an Army veteran.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Saturday June 29, 2002 at the Central Congregational Church in Galesburg with Rev. Lewis D. Woods, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday at the Church. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery with military rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Mrs. Lori L. Darst

42, of 1368 Moshier Ave. Galesburg, IL, died at 8:30 PM Friday June 21, 2002 at her home.
She was born on September 20, 1959 in Galesburg to Fred and Delores (Tracy) Rodenhauser. She married Dale Darst in Galesburg on August 20, 1983. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1987.
She is survived by her mother, Delores "Dee" Rodenhauser of Knoxville, IL, a daughter, Amy Darst of Galesburg, IL, two sisters, Vanessa (and Garvin) Main of Knoxville, IL and Lisa (and Bill) Stephens of Galesburg, IL, a niece, Amanda Darst and five nephews, Andrew Darst, Jake Larson, Zack Larson, BJ Main and Brad Main
She was a registered nurse for Galesburg Orthopedics for 20 years.
She was a 1977 graduate of Knoxville (IL) High School and a 1983 graduate of Lutheran School of Nursing in Moline IL. She was a very active member of the First Church of God and was a member of the National Association of Nurses (NAON). She was a Sunday school teacher, a Galesburg Silver Streak and Knoxville Blue Bullet fan and enjoyed stock car racing.
Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Tuesday June 25, 2002 at First Church of God with Rev. Derick Bacon officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday June 24, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to a Scholarship Fund for Amy Darst.

Miss Dorothea E. Richardson

95, of 1635 N. West St. Galesburg, IL, died at 9:00 AM Wednesday June 19, 2002 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL.
She was born on October 14, 1906 in Galesburg to Marshall W. and Jessie (Custer) Richardson.
She is survived by seven nephews, Rich Croson of Hot Springs Village, AR, Tom Croson of Galesburg, IL, Robert Richardson of New Berlin, WI, John Welch and Patrick Welch, both of Galesburg, IL, Richard Welch of Decatur, IL and Stephen Welch of West Peoria, IL, two nieces, Sara Jane Esp of Galesburg, IL and Linda Ann Youngren of West Dundee, IL, many great nieces and nephews, several great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Croson and Sarabeth Welch, and two brothers, Harry Richardson and William K. Richardson.
She taught for 45 years in the Galesburg public schools, retiring in June 1972. She was a 1925 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Nauvoo, IL. She graduated from Lombard College in Galesburg and Bradley University in Peoria, IL. She did post graduate work at Western Illinois University in Macomb and Colorado University in Greeley.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Home Culture Study Club, Meletomen Study Club, and the New England Women’s Club.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday June 22, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Thomas Heather officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Katherine J. Swank

86, of 1145 Frank St., Galesburg, IL died at 12:15 PM, Wednesday, June 19, 2002 in Galesburg Terrace Nursing Home.
She was born June 30, 1915 in Youngstown, IL to Jesse C. and Emma (Thomas) Bond. She married Raymond Swank in May of 1938 in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1963.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
She was a homemaker and a volunteer who had lived her life in Henderson, IL and Galesburg, IL. She was a member of Wataga Congregational Church.
Graveside services will be 10 AM Monday June 24, 2002 in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Hallock officiating. Memorials can be made to Community Hospices of America. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lelah C. Leadley

88, of 2345 N. Seminary St. Galesburg, IL died 11:25 AM Monday June 17, 2002 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born October 18, 1913 in West Jersey, IL to John F. and Anna (Peve) Catton. She married Walter Leadley on June 20, 1936 in Toulon IL. He died January 4, 1977.
Surviving is a son, Gerald C. Leadley of Princeton, IL, two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Madelyn) Behrens of Buda, IL and Mrs. Sherrell (Louise) Ruhl of Galesburg, IL, a sister, Alice Sturm of Belvidere IL, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and six brothers.
She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Edna I. Miller

90, of 800 N. Market St., Knoxville, IL, formerly of Rio, IL, died at 6:30 PM Sunday, June 16, 2002 in Knox County Nursing Home.
She was born April 14, 1912 in Alpha, IL, to Harvey and Carrie (Young) Stotts. She married Russell T. Miller in Galesburg on September 29, 1932. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1983.
She is survived by three daughters, Pat Danner of Galesburg, IL, Margy (and John) Moberg of Monmouth, IL and Donna Miller of Jackson, MI, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Tom Miller and Gary Miller, a daughter, Doris Varnold, four brothers, including her twin, and three sisters.
She was a homemaker who had lived most of her life in Rio, IL. She was a former member of the Rio Presbyterian Church.
Private family graveside services will be held Thursday June 20, 2002 in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, with Rev. James Ecklund officiating. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Joan W. Wiechert

69, of 1775 Newcomer Dr., Galesburg, IL died at 6:50 PM Saturday, June 15, 2002 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born December 13, 1932 in Galesburg, IL to Everett and Fern B. (Harrod) Hall. She married Virgil Lopeman. She later married Fred Wiechert, Jr. in Galesburg on October 4, 1973. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1990.
She is survived by a son, Mark (and Sharon) Lopeman of Alexis, IL, two daughters, Virgi (and Toby) Cox and Jenny (and Leo) Ennis, both of Galesburg, IL, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was a homemaker who had lived in Galesburg most of her life. She was a member of First Christian Church, Galesburg.

Mrs. Frances Ann Maciel Guzman

54, of 570 Lawrence Ave. Galesburg, IL died 10:38 AM Thursday June 13, 2002 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born June 16, 1947 in Galesburg, IL to Frank and Cuca (Mejia) Maciel. She married Juan Jose Guzman on November 20, 1968 in Galesburg IL. He survives.
Also surviving is one son Juan Jose Guzman, Jr. in Galesburg IL. She is preceded in death by her parents.
She worked as a cosmetologist at Prim Rose Hair Designers in Galesburg. She worked for Community Unit School District #205 also in Galesburg. She was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and also the Church’s St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry. She was a 1965 graduate of Galesburg High School and a graduate of the Galesburg School of Beauty.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Noon on Monday June 17, 2002 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday June 16, 2002 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel where Rosary Services will be held at 7:00 PM by Rev. Joseph Presley. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church or to the family.
