Mrs. Jane Thiess Bobbitt

83, of 2345 N. Seminary St. Galesburg, IL died 7:10 PM Wednesday July 31, 2002 in Seminary Manor Nursing Home.
She was born August 6, 1918 in Hinsdale IL to George and Mabel (Ziemer) Thiess. She married Charles S. Borden II in LaGrange IL in 1935. She later married Harold Bobbitt in Chicago IL in 1963. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Charles S. Borden Jr of Galesburg, IL and Joseph C. Borden of Oquawka, IL, a daughter, Mary Jane Stolfa of Western Springs, IL, a sister, Carolyn Reutzel of Western Springs, IL, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was a homemaker. She graduated from high school in LaGrange IL. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Western Springs IL. She was very active with the Church Circles.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Community Hospices of America or charity of the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Betty P. Jackson

65, 1022 S. Academy St. Galesburg IL died 12:26 AM Wednesday July 31, 2002 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born on August 7, 1936 in Granite City IL to Glenn and Catherine (Inskip) Vaughn. She married George E. Jackson in Barry IL on December 16, 1954. He survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Jimmy H. Jackson of Abingdon, IL, George W. Jackson of Roseville, IL, David L. Jackson of Abingdon, IL and Richard L. Jackson of Galesburg, IL, four daughters, Rose Mary Riley, Sharon Simpson, Betty Ann Dupoy and Joyce M. Wheeler, all of Galesburg, IL, four brothers, Floyd Vaughn, Melvin Vaughn, Troy Vaughn, and Melvin Vaughn, all of Quincy, IL, four sisters, Norma Powell, Triva Nieders, Louise Powell, all of Quincy, IL, and Sharon Irvin and Carrie Miller both of Barry, IL, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She was a homemaker.
Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Friday August 2, 2002 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. James Eklund officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials can be made to the family.

Mr. Allan D. Florence

74, of 2146 Daniel Drive South, Galesburg, IL, died at 1:55 AM Friday, July 26, 2002 in the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL.
He was born July 12, 1928 in the state of New York to Allan and Elsie (Dawson) Florence. He married Margrett M. Shores. She preceded him in death November 6, 2001.
He is survived by two daughters, Millie Wallace of Galesburg, IL and Philis Mayhew of Abingdon, IL, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters and a brother.
He was a machine operator at Gates Rubber Company in Galesburg for 30 years. He retired in 1991. He graduated from high school and college in New York State. He was of Baptist faith. He was a Mason and belonged to the local union at Gates Rubber Company. He was a Navy veteran.
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday July 30, 2002 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. John Carlson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 PM to 8 PM Monday July 29, 2002 at the Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Military honors will be provided by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials can be made to the family.

Mrs. Florence Alma Reimer

100, of 1250 W. Carl Sandburg Dr., Galesburg, IL, died at 3:20 PM Thursday, July 25, 2002 in Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born June 21, 1902 in Galesburg, IL to John Henry and Alice Lillian (Frakes) Cheesman. She married Richard Herman Reimer on June 15, 1922 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death in 1964.
She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie E. Morrison of Galesburg, IL, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, four brothers and two sisters.
She was a homemaker living in Galesburg for 24 years, Burlington, IA for 34 years and in Knoxville, IL for 35 years.
A private family graveside memorial service will be Monday July 29, 2002 in Knoxville Cemetery with Mrs. Marilyn Anell officiating. Memorials can be made to Community Hospices of America. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robert L. Lanier

80, of 1008 Parkside Hill Dr. at Lake Bracken, Galesburg, IL died at 7:55 PM Thursday, July 25, 2002 at home.
He was born October 13, 1921 in Beardstown to Luther G. and Lillie A. (Armel) Lanier. He married Mary Elizabeth McComas on March 9, 1942 in Hannibal, MO. She preceded him in death on March 26, 1992.
He is survived by a son, Robert “Mike” (and Peggy) Lanier of Charlotte, NC, a daughter, Marvin “Jan” Lanier of Oneida, IL, four grandchildren, a great grandchild, three step great grandchildren and a step great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles “Tim” Lanier on June 2, 1975.
He was a conductor for the CB&Q, Burlington Northern Railroad, and Amtrak for 43 years. He retired March 8, 1983. He was the “Best Cook on the Main Line”. He graduated from Beardstown High School in 1939 living there for 24 years, in Galesburg for 14 years, and Lake Bracken for 43 years.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Galesburg. He was a member of Alpha Masonic Lodge #155 AF&AM, Galesburg, the United Transportation Union, and Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. He was currently the president of Galesburg Chapter of the United Ostomy Association. He was an Army Air Corps (13th Air Force) veteran of World War II, serving for 4 years as a corporal in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday July 29, 2002 in Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Larsen officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday July 28, 2992 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Mr. Donald E. Wingo

68, of 472 Yates St. Galesburg, IL died 9:15 AM Tuesday July 23, 2002 at Bunker Links Golf Course Galesburg IL.
He was born September 25, 1933 in Galesburg IL to Ralph and Bertha (Jordan) Wingo. He married Carol A. Eastburg on January 15, 1953 in Galesburg, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Mark D. (and Anna) Wingo and Kevin L. Wingo, both of Galesburg, IL and Donald E Wingo Jr (and David) of Chicago, IL, a daughter, Cindy Nigoza of Galesburg, IL, three brothers, Melvin Wingo of Calhoun, GA, Robert Wingo of Seaton, IL and Wilbur Wingo of Rotunda, FL, two sisters, Darlene Hoff of Galesburg, IL and Vera Bell in Los Angeles, CA, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
He worked as an Engineer for Burlington Northern Railroad for 44 years, retiring in 1995. He lived in Galesburg his entire life. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1951. He was a member of the Dew Dusters Golf League at Bunker Links Golf Course, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Emmanuel Methodist Church. He served in the US Army for two years in Germany.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday July 26, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday July 25, 2002 at the Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Doris M. Collinson

66, of 581 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, IL, died at 4:49 PM Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born May 19, 1936 in Galesburg to Chester and Florence (Wilson) Cooley. She married Edward Scott in 1954 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death. She married John Pasco August 2, 1958 in Galesburg. She then married Vincent L. Collinson on December 1, 1979 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death August 10, 2000.
He is survived by two sons, Harvey Scott and Roy Scott, both of Calhoun, GA, three daughters, Debi Meline of Wataga, IL, Peggy Lawton of Galesburg, IL and Helen Richards of Puyallup, WA, a brother, Chester Cooley of Moline, IL, three sisters, Bonnie Cordle of Henderson, IL, Kathleen Mahnesmith of Galesburg, IL and Beatrice Roberts of Knoxville, IL and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.
She worked as a metal finisher for Maytag Corporation for 14 years. She then worked at Galesburg Research Hospital for 4 years. She last worked in housekeeping for Knox College for 4 years, retiring in 1990. She had lived in Galesburg her entire life. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Wataga.
Graveside services will be 1:30 PM Monday July 22, 2002 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jill Vivroux officiating. Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 PM Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials can be made to the American Lung Association.

Mr. Wayne W. Hough

83, of 1559 N. Kellogg St., Galesburg, IL, died at 11:05 AM Thursday, July 18, 2002 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born December 13, 1918 in Galesburg, IL to John W. and Pearl M. (Lenihan) Hough. He married Lola J. Huss on September 4, 1938 in Bowling Green, MO. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Bruce (and Mary) Hough of Omaha, NE, a daughter, Jan (and Ron) Carr of Galesburg, IL, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
He was a brakeman and conductor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1980. He was a graduate of Galesburg High School. He was a life member of Faith United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
He was awarded a Bronze Battle Star for service in the US Army during World War II.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday July 22, 2002 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Kevin Treptow officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday July 21, 2002 at the Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the Ralph M. Mrs. Lynn F. Watters

81, of 222 Highland Ave., Galesburg, IL died at 5:00 AM, Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at home.
She was born May 25, 1921 in Evansville, IN to Otto and Alvina (Rauth) Fritz. She married Robert C. Watters, Sr. on April 25, 1943 in Evansville, IN. He preceded her in death August 31, 1997.
She is survived by a son, Larry (and Diane) Watters of Naperville, IL, a daughter: Sandra (and Roger) Reinicker of Hockessin, DE, 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Rob Watters on February 23, 2001, two brothers and a sister.
She was the Director of Adult Education at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg for 10 years, retiring in 1983. She graduated from Evansville High School, Evansville, IN, received her associate’s degree from Carl Sandburg College, her bachelor’s degree from Monmouth College, and her master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. She was a member of Central Congregational Church.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday July 19, 2002 at Central Congregational Church with Rev. Thomas Heather officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday July 18, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday at the Church. Mrs. Dixie Lee Hummel

50, of 516 Jefferson St. Galesburg IL died 12:45 AM Tuesday July 16, 2002 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center Peoria IL.
She was born October 25, 1951 in Keokuk IA to Robert and Aileen (White) Schlatter. She married Vincent Hummel in Quincy IL May 20, 1972. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ryan (and Katrina) Hummel and Troy Hummel, both of Galesburg, IL, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Eryn) Spitzig of Galesburg IL, two brothers, Michael Schlatter of Kehoka MO and Steven Schlatter of Hamilton IL and a grandson, Daniel Hummel of Galesburg IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
She worked for Cottage Home Options in Galesburg for the last two years. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Galesburg IL. She participated in the Relay Walk for Life for several years. She graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School in 1970 in Keokuk IA and Gem City College in 1972.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday July 20, 2002 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg with Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday July 19, 2002 at the Chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Grandson Daniel Hummel to establish an education fund.
