He was born May 28, 1912, on the family farm, Henderson Township, Knox County, IL to Henry and Lillian Mattson Nelson.
He is survived by a brother Ernie (and Sophie) Nelson of Belvidere, IL; 2 sisters Leona Mohlenoff of Diamond City, Ark and Mildred (and Robert) Patrick of Phoenix, AZ and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
He was a farmer all of his life on the family farm in Henderson and Rio, IL areas. He was of the Lutheran Faith.
Graveside memorial services will be 11:00 AM Monday May 5, 2003 at Henderson Grove (IL) Cemetery with Rev. Tom Heather officiating. Memorials can be made to the Knox County Nursing Home.

91, of 2245 N. Seminary St. Galesburg, IL died 10:05 AM Wednesday April 30, 2003 in Seminary Manor.
He was born March 23, 1912 in Cable, IL to Charles O. and Anna W. Tederman Nelson. He married Esther Linnea Johnson on July 7, 1935 in Kenosha, WI. She died December 6, 1980. He then married Pauline Lundeen-Gunther on September 16, 1989 in Galesburg. She died July 28, 1993. He later married Vivian Marie Sloan-Cooper on October 15, 1994 in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving is one son Myron C. (and Pauline) Nelson of Seminole, AL, one sister Esther Carlson of Galesburg, two step daughters Patricia (and Ray) Cooper-Noble of Lincoln, IL Joan (and Rick) Cooper-Elander of Galesburg, IL, three grandsons, five step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one brother, George Nelson, one sister, Adria Hanson Murphy, and a niece, Nancy Ann Nelson.
He served as pastor of several churches in Minnesota for the Baptist General Conference for 36 years, retiring in 1970. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1930 and the Moody Bible Institute with an Associate in 1932. He worked in Home Mission field in MN while attending Moody. In 1932 he accepted a call at Harper Free Church in Washington and attended Seattle Pacific College were he received his BA in 1934. He accepted a call at First Baptist Church of Preston in Preston WA. Then in 1946 he accepted a call to Spring Lake Park Baptist Church in Spring Lake Park MN. In 1949 he was in a church in Rosseau MN, in 1953 a church in Minnetonka MN and in 1956 a church in Henning MN, all these churches where in the Baptist General Conference. In 1970 he accepted a position at the Presbyterian Home in St. Paul MN. He then moved to Galesburg IL to retire. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. There he was known as “Pastor Ed”. He delivered the weekly Church service tapes, drove the church van and did Pulpit-ministry for Bethel. He also served as a Crossing Guard for District #205 for many years.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday May 5, 2003 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Kirk Kendall officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday May 4, 2003 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Bethel Baptist Church.

She was born April 1, 1929 in Truro, IA to Hiriam and Iva Loomis Little. She married Harold Dean Denly on August 4, 1948 in New Sharon, IA. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1988.
She is survived by a son: Robert (and Sue) Denly, Avon, IL, a daughter: Ann (and Rick) Morris, Monmouth, IL, a brother: Paul (and Nila) Little, Creston, Iowa, 2 sisters: Elsie (and Dean) O’Neall, Roseville, IL and Leora (and Ron) Maffitt, Murray, Iowa, 3 grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one sister.
She was a nurse’s aide and unit secretary at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for 34 years. She retired in 1994. She had lived in Galesburg for many years and in Avon for the past 6 years. She graduated from Murray High School, Murray, Iowa in 1948.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday April 30, 2003 in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. James Epperson officiating.

She was born on September 13, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Stephen J. and Jean Poznar Pinik. She married Feliz J. Podwojski on September 22, 1951 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1991.
She is survived by a son, Stephen John Podwojski of Gilbert, AZ and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a homemaker. She graduated from Lucy Flower Tech. High School in Chicago, IL. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg, IL.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday April 30, 2003 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Presley officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday April 29, 2003 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Cremation will be accorded with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg, IL. 66, 305 S. Washington St. Abingdon, died at 7:45 am Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
He was born July 15, 1936 in Roseville, Illinois to Clifford Dawson and Bernice Stevens Schoonover. He married Diane Simpson on June 4, 1955 in Abingdon. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Teri (and Jan) Squire and Sheri (and Barry) Buchen both of Abingdon, Kayla (and Andy) Queen of Monmouth; two brothers, Lynn (and Diane) Schoonover of Roseville and Darrell (and Charlotte) Schoonover of Galesburg; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren and four Aunts.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He grew up in Roseville and graduated from Roseville High School. He had lived in Abingdon since 1955.
He was a machine operator at the Smurfit-Stone Corp. in Galesburg for 45 years, last working on January 2, 2003 due to his illness.
He was baptized at the Roseville Christian Church.
He was a member of the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical & Energy Workers International Union #06-0643.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon with Eleanor Landon officiating. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at the chapel.

He was born January 6, 1914 in Seattle, WA to Albert and Olga Rosell Larson. He married Ruby Burchell in Las Vegas, NV in 1977. She survives.
Also surviving are two stepsons, Loren L. (and Linda) Johnson of Galesburg, IL and Darwin G. (and Debra) Johnson of Alexandria, VA and a brother, Martin T. Larson of Leesburg, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Danny Larson.
He worked as a routeman for Meadow Gold Dairy. He later worked in shipping for Outboard Marine Corporation for 23 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a Past President of the Older Americans of Knox (OAKS), a member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 and a former member of the Noon Lions Club. He was a 1933graduate of Galesburg High School. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church. He served in the US Marines during World War II.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday April 23, 2003 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the First Lutheran Church or to the OAKS.

She was born December 8, 1925 in Galesburg, IL to Wilfred and Elvera Starr Johnson. She married Earl H. Culver in Galesburg, IL on September 17, 1950. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1996.
Surviving are three sons: Earl “Bud” (and Martha) Culver of Azle, TX, Bruce (and Sandra) Culver of Chandler, AZ and Brian Culver of Oklahoma City, OK, a daughter: Beth (and Jeppie) Harris III of Galesburg, IL, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was a homemaker who had lived in Galesburg her entire life. She was a 1943 graduate of Galesburg High School and from Brown’s Business College. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Galesburg and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was active with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Band Boosters, craft shows, and she served as an election judge.
Funeral will be 11:30 AM Thursday April 24, 2003 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. She was born April 28, 1955 in Galesburg, IL to LaVerne M. and Mary Ann Craig Wells. She married Dan Bartleman and later married Wayne Troxell.
She is survived by a son, Rocky Troxell of Springfield, IL, two daughters, Linda Bartleman of Aurora, IL and Sara Bartleman of Oswego IL, four brothers, Michael T. Wells, Richard L. (and Lisa) Wells, Virgil Munsell and LaVerne M. “Jack” and (wife of Jack and sister of the deceased) Gloria Wells, all of Galesburg, IL, another sister Gail Empson of Galesburg, IL and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She worked as a waitress for many years in the Galesburg and Ohio area.
She has lived in Ohio for the last twenty years.

He is survived by a son, Randy Alan (and Raye) Hovind of Galesburg, IL, a daughter, Deborah Lynn (and Rick) Briggs of Galesburg, IL, two brothers, Myron Lee (and Iris) Hovind of Abingdon, IL and Larry Wayne (and Phoebe) of Galesburg, IL and three grandchildren, Bradley, Dillon, Tristan Hovind. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He worked as a press operator for Butler Manufacturing for 32 years, retiring in 1992. He lived in Galesburg most his life. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He served in the Air Force for four years during the Korean War.
