Mrs. Clella J. Richmond, Galesburg Chapel

83, of 2342 Henderson Trail, Rio, IL died at 5:20 AM Tuesday, November 25, 2003 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg IL.
She was born June 22, 1920 in Galesburg, IL to Clifford and Maude Robertson Field. She married Dale W. Richmond in Davenport, IA on February 14, 1941. He survives.
Also surviving is a foster son, Andrew (and Julie) Wallace of Lincoln NE, a daughter. Jean (and Don) Pottebaum of Earlville, IA, two brothers; Lee Field of Henderson, IL and Gale Field of Galesburg, IL, a grandson, Brad (and Nicole) Lincoln of Rio, IL, two great grandchildren, two foster grandchildren, six step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister and two sons; Sennett in 1964 and Gary Dale in 1978.
She worked for the former American Beauty Restaurant and Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She farmed with her husband since 1941. She lived in the Rio area most her life. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1938.
She was a member of the Rio Chapter of the Order of the Easter Star now a member of the Galesburg Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Spoon River Antique Agricultural Association and a member of the Edwards River Antique Engine Association.
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Friday, November 28, 2003 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Richard Curtis officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM Friday at the Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women’s Shelter or to the Illinois Masonic Children Home in LaGrange, IL

Mr. Harold W. Schisler, Abingdon Chapel

84, of Sun City, AZ formerly of Abingdon died at 12:07 AM, Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at Boswell Hospital, Sun City, AZ.
He was born September 26, 1919 near Abingdon, Knox County, Illinois the son of John and Minnie Dawdy Schisler.
He married Maxine Stearns on June 29, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, H. Edmund (and Lynn) Schisler of Columbus, Indiana, Ronald W. (and Rosemary)Schisler of Santee, California, and one daughter, Darlene (and Carl) Henderson of Glenburn, Maine, and one sister, Irene (and Bob)Morris of Berwick, Illinois, eight Grandchildren, and ten Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
He attended Abingdon High School and was a machinist at the former Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg, Illinois 28 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Sun City, Arizona.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. Rev. Raymond McLaren will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service on Tuesday at the chapel.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mr. Wesley Frank Gregory, Galesburg Chapel

75, 440 N. Chambers St., Galesburg, died at 1:15 PM Friday, November 21, 2003 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born September 30, 1928 in Galesburg, the son of John Marvin and Della Logue Gregory. He married Charlotte Moore in May of 1948 in Galesburg. He later married Alice Holder on April 11, 1962 in Monmouth. She preceded him in death in May of 1996.
Surviving is a son, Kenneth (and Kathy) Lockwood, Galesburg, 3 daughters, Linda Wolfe, Janet Ball, and Rita (and Eddie) Briggs, all of Galesburg, a step son, Larry (and Susan) Briggs, Burleson, TX, a step daughter, Beverly (and Ed) McVay, Oquawka, IL, 30 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step son, Clinton Briggs, a step daughter, Shirley Briggs, one brother, and one sister.
He worked at Midwest Manufacturing Company in Galesburg. He moved to Texas and worked at a box factory there for 15 years. He returned to Galesburg in 2001.
Memorial services will be 11 AM Tuesday at the Covenant Church, Galesburg. The Rev. Thomas Ek will officiate. There will be no visitation. Mr. Gregory’s body has been donated to science. Memorials can be made to the Covenant Church.

Mr. Lyle E. Morris, Abingdon Chapel

68, of 183 Knox Road 730N, died at 2:45 am Friday, November 21, 2003, at his home.
He was born on June 13, 1935 in Chestnut Township, Knox County, IL to Joseph and Pauline Warren Morris. He married Bonnie Gould on March 19, 1955 in Greeley, CO. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Wayne (and Ranell) Morris of Fair Grove, MO and Grant (and Tori) Morris of Galesburg; one daughter Patty (and David) Gutierrez of Berthoud, CO; one brother, Bill (and Linda) Morris of Abingdon; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1954.
He was a retired US Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He returned to the Abingdon area in 1976 after his retirement from the Air Force.
He was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Monday at the Berwick Baptist Church. Rev. Melody Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery with Military Rites by American Legion Post #381. Friends may call from 3:00 – 5:00 pm Sunday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. Memorials may be made to the Berwick Baptist Church or the American Lung Association.

Mr. William E. Tate, Galesburg Chapel

87, formerly of 1465 N. Cherry St., Galesburg, IL died at 2:50 PM Tuesday, November 18, 2003 in Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
He was born October 15, 1916 in Missouri to Tean and Mary Acuff Tate. He married Evelyn M. Mortenson on April 17, 1938 in Knoxville, IL. She preceded him in death on June 8, 1987.
He is survived by three sons; Michael Tate of Ellijay, GA, William Tate of Cahokia, IL and David Tate of Galesburg, IL, three sisters; Rosemary Whittaker of Merced, CA, Ula Turner of Las Vegas, NV and Betty Spencer of Sterling, IL, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.
He was a switch foreman for the Santa Fe Railroad in Galesburg for 40 years, retiring in 1976. He was raised in Dahinda and Knoxville, IL and lived most of his adult life in Galesburg. He was a 1934 graduate of Knoxville High School and attended Knox College in Galesburg. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Galesburg. He was a member and past Exalted Ruler of Elk’s Lodge 894 in Galesburg.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, November 21, 2003 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Frederick Larner officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Friday at the Chapel. Burial will be in Knoxville (IL) Cemetery. Memorials can be made to First Lutheran Church.

Mr. Harvey L. Heady, Galesburg Chapel

84, 277 Knox Highway 37, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2003 at the Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
He was born January 20, 1919, in Batavia, IA to Dave and Ella Robinson Heady. He married W. Mabel Chapman on August 25, 1939, in Davenport, IA. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Lawrence G. Heady of Thornebay, AK; two daughters, Linda (and Kenney) Harmison of Galesburg, IL and Judith (and Tracy) Knisely of Monmouth, IL; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gerald L, Heady and Terry Frances Heady, two brothers and one sister.
He worked for Butler Manufacturing for 30 years, retiring in March 1980. He also farmed. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 2629 and the Messiah Lutheran Church in Henderson Grove.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 20, 2003 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Kurt Carlsen officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday at the hapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church in Henderson Grove, or to the University of Iowa Foundation (Dr. Johlin Research).

Miss Mary Goslinski, 94, of 275 E. Carl Sandburg Dr. Galesburg, IL died at 10:50 AM Sunday, November 16, 2003 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center Galesburg, IL.

She was born October 30, 1909 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Mary Goslinski. She was never married.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a homemaker.

Mr. James E. Arnold, Galesburg Chapel

61, of 753 Century Estates, Galesburg, IL died at 8:10 AM Saturday, November 15, 2003 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1942 in Galesburg, IL to Estill and Dorothy Miller Arnold. He married Martha D. Goshert on September 10, 1966 in Galesburg, IL.
He is survived by ,his parents Estill Arnold of Milan, IL and Dorothy Boostrom of Galesburg, IL, two daughters; Stephanie C. Arnold (and Komla Penty) of Chicago, IL and Kathryn L. Arnold of Monmouth, IL, a brother, Eldon (and Beverly) Arnold of Pekin, IL and three sisters; Mary Smith of Galesburg, IL, Jackie (and Darron) Niles of Rock Island, IL and Christa Arnold of Davenport, IA.
He worked for the former Intra State Telephone Company for nine years. He then worked for S & S Distributors for eight years and then worked for G & M Distributors for fifteen years, retiring in 2001. He was a 1960 graduate of Galesburg High School and attended Western Illinois University.
He was a Past President and former member of the Galesburg Lions Club. He played for the 1959 GHS Men’s Basketball Team that just was inducted into the GHS Athletic Hall of Fame. He served in the Navy for 2 years from 1961-1962.

Mrs. Virginia T. Davis, Galesburg Chapel

84, of 480 Scotch Elm Lane, Galesburg, IL died at 8:14 AM Friday, November 14, 2003 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born January 27, 1919 in Avon IL to Robert and Margaret Burrage Trumpy. She married Edwin N. Davis on January 1, 1938 in Avon IL. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1999.
She is survived by two daughters; Melinda (and William) Ruttledge of St. Louis, MO and Cynthia (and David) Leary of Ft. Collins, CO, a son-in-law, Robert Lafferty of Oquawka, IL, three grandchildren and a great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter Susan Lafferty.
She was a homemaker. She lived in Avon and Galesburg are most her life. She was a 1937 graduate of Avon (IL) High School and attended Knox College. She was a board member for the former Louise T. Harrington Home in Galesburg IL and member of the Woman’s Board at St. Mary’s Hospital. She played in numerous bridge clubs.
A private family graveside service will be held. Memorials can be made to the Galesburg Public Library.

Mr. Victor N. Links, Abingdon Chapel

70, of 135 Knox Highway 8, St. Augustine, IL died at 10:20 AM Friday, November 14, 2003 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, IL.
He was born on July 2, 1933 in Galesburg, IL to Victor and Selma McLaughlin Links. He married Velma L. Smith on October 9, 1953 in Abingdon, IL. She preceded him in death on May 26, 1966. He married Sarah E. Kennedy on June 26, 1970 in Rock Island, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kirt (and Sandy) Links of Abingdon, IL and Patrick E. Links of Normal, IL; a sister, Shirley Asencio of Galesburg, IL; two brothers, Donald Lee (and Bev) Links of Decatur, IL and Robert E. Links of Houma, LA; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
He was a supervisor at the former Gales Products division of Outboard Marine Corp. in Galesburg for 27 years. He later worked as an engineer for the Hughes Space and Communications in Huntsville, AL, retiring in 1996. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. He was a 1951 graduate of Abingdon High School.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon with Father Joseph Presley officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, November 17, 2003 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Cremation will follow services. A graveside service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at the Abingdon Cemetery with Deacon Robert Myers officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #381. Memorials may be made to Abingdon Athletic Booster Club.
