84, formerly of 2276 Daniel Dr. South Galesburg, IL died at 1:45 PM Wednesday September 22, 2004 in Seminary Manor Nursing Home, Galesburg.
She was born May 21, 1920 in Farmer City, IL the daughter of Rufus and Clema G. Oldfield Nichols. She married Raymond H. Brohmstedt in Merrill, WI on December 29, 1982. He died October 15, 2000.
She is survived by one sister, Odessa Mileham of Decatur, IL and a caregiver, Al Stover of Columbia Heights, East Galesburg, IL. She was preceded in death by three sisters.
She worked as a Quality Control Inspector for the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation for 40 years retiring in December 31, 1982. She was of the Christian faith.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday September 28, 2004 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 AM Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.

79 of 305 Stockdale Lane died at 2:20 am Thursday, September 23, 2004 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
He was born on July 5, 1925 on the family farm in Warren County to Arthur and Helen “Nell” Farrell Hallbick. He married Wilma Florine on October 7, 1961 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia Hallbick of Webster, TX and Annette (and John) Hough of Clinton, TN; one sister, Helen (and Earl) Danforth of Galesburg; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Hallbick.
He had lived in the Abingdon area all his life where he farmed in Warren and Knox counties retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381.
He was a member of the Knox County Farm Bureau.
Services will be at 10:00 am Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Presley officiating. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 5:00 pm Sunday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon with a Rosary service at 5:00 pm.

67, 978 Knox Hwy 27, Gilson, IL died at 1:40 PM Thursday September 23, 2004 at his home.
He was born May 23, 1937 in Manito, IL, the son of Ralph E. and Geneva E. Barnes Parkin. He married Bonnie Faye Engle September 8, 1957 in Belvidere, IL. She survives.
Also surviving is his mother, Geneva Parkin of Denver, CO, three sons, Dale E. Jr. (and Ronda) Parkin, William D. (and Shiela) Parkin, and Jeffrey S. (and Jeanie) Parkin, all of Galesburg, IL, two daughters, Julie A. (and Mike) Bell of Oceanview, Hawaii and Michelle Roberts of Galesburg, IL, two sisters, Jean (and Forrest)Davis of Manito, IL and Marlene (and LeRoy) Bacher of Denver, CO, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for Local 649 Operating Engineers, Peoria, IL for 45 years, retiring in June of 2000. He graduated from Forman Community High School in 1955 and he attended Western Illinois University.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 649, Peoria, IL.
Funeral will be 10 AM Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Tom Larsen will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

87, of 191 Fair Acres Drive, Galesburg, IL died at 5:25 AM Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at her home.
She was born on November 26, 1916 in LaSalle, IL to Howard Daniel and Francelia Cora Comp Fitzkee. She married George James Bowers in LaSalle, IL on November 27, 1935. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1992.
She is survived by a son, George (and wife Delores) Bowers of Galesburg, IL, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
She passed with the changing season, wanting us to laugh and live life. Always, she will be remembered by the many, many lives she had touched.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice of America. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Born July 25, 1958 in Sacramento, CA, passed away on September 3, 2004 at the young age of 46. Beloved daughter of Alice L. Courter of Sacramento. Also survived by her brother John C. Courter, sister-in-law Sherry L. Courter, nephews Christopher R. and Nicholas J. Courter, niece Shelby T. Courter, her father, William Dave Courter of Abingdon, Illinois, numerous relatives, extended family and close friends. Cris was employed by the county of Sacramento for 21 years. 78 of Stevenson, Alabama and formerly of Berwick died Thursday, September 16, 2004 at the Jackson County Hospital in Scottsboro, Alabama.
He was born on August 28, 1926 in Cave City, Kentucky to Harry and Lucille Isenberg Adwell. He married Donnalee Meachum on June 1, 1947 in Berwick. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Myra Kay (and Herb) Lloyd of Bremmen, AL; one son, Gale (and Joyce) Adwell of Galesburg; one sister, Shirley Ford of Galesburg; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1944. He worked at Midwest Manufacturing in Galesburg and later was a custodian and bus driver for Abingdon School District #217.
He moved to Stevenson in 1971 where he worked at the Fabius Coal Mine as a truck driver. He retired from H.D. Lee Overall Factory in Stevenson.
He was a former Boy Scout leader for 18 years and was a member of the Edgefield Church of Christ in Stevenson.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Monday at the Berwick Cemetery. Rev. Daniel Siems will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 until 6:00 pm Sunday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon.

98, formerly of 93 Olive St., Galesburg, IL died at 4:05 PM Thursday, September 16, 2004 in Seminary Manor Nursing Home.
She was born February 18, 1906 in Galesburg, IL to Henry S. and Emily G. Carlson Venell.
She is survived by several cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She was a school teacher and the Dean of Girls at Lombard Jr. High School before retiring in 1970. She was a 1924 graduate of Galesburg High School, a 1928 graduate of Lombard College and a 1942 graduate of University of Illinois.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Knox /Lombard 50 year club and the Grace Episcopal Church where she was Sunday School Superintendant and a member of the St. Margaret’s Guild. She was an officer with the Knox County Teachers Credit Union. She was a Past member of the Business and Professional Womens Group.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 20, 2004 at Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. Thomas Janikowski officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Grace Episcopal Church.

She was born January 25, 1905 in Canton, IL, the daughter of Walter and Sarah Ackerson Weaver. She married Stanley G. Foote on December 24, 1930 in Morris, IL. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1972.
She is survived by one daughter, Colleen (and Richard) Kisler of Galesburg, IL, one brother, Willard Weaver of Canton, IL, five grandchildren, Traci (and Bob) Smith of Galesburg, IL, Patti (and Ed) Leeson of Galesburg, IL, Jodi (and Mick) Wood of North Henderson, IL, Tobi (and Mike) Nelson of Galesburg, IL and Scott (and Patricia) Kisler of Chicago, IL, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and two sisters.
She worked in the Knox College Food Service for 20 years, retiring in 1964. She had lived in Canton, IL and Aledo, IL and in Galesburg, IL the last 43 years.
She was a member of the Galesburg Woman’s Club and the Grandmother’s Club.
She was a member of the Aledo United Methodist Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 PM Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery, Aledo, IL. Memorials can be made to the 4th Floor OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

She was a cook and waitress at the Kozy Inn, rural Galesburg for many years. She was a member of First Church of God. She was a volunteer for KCCDD.
Funeral will be 10 AM Friday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Derick Bacon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to KCCDD.

Surviving are one daughter, Rhonda (and Sam) Watkins of RR London Mills; two sons, Michael (and Lorene) Schisler of RR 6 Galesburg, Brian (and Candice) Schisler, stationed in the US Navy in Jacksonville, FL; five brothers, Robert (and Velma) Schisler of Jacksonville, IL, Bradley (and Pat) Schisler of RR 6 Galesburg, Jack (and Margaret) Schisler of St. Augustine, Donald (and Darlene) Schisler of Abingdon, Homer (and Sandra) Schisler, Jr. of Mt. Morris, MI; three sisters, Merle (and Harold) Derry of RR Abingdon, Betty (and Elmer) Sickles and Dorla (and William) Dwyer of Abingdon; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Berlon, Jay and Giles and one sister, Lois.
He had lived in the Abingdon area most of his life.
He served in the US Army from July 1960 until June of 1962.
He worked at the former Gale Products in Galesburg for 9 ½ years. He later was self employed as an electrician and owned Jim’s Electric in Abingdon for several years.
He was a former volunteer fireman for the Abingdon Fire Department. He was also a past member of the Abingdon Fall Festival Association.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Thursday at the Abingdon Cemetery. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West chapel in Abingdon.
