Mrs. Manetta W. Tribbey, Galesburg Chapel

78, 1430 N. Broad St., Galesburg, died at 6:42 PM Thursday, January 27, 2005 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born September 13, 1926 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Kenneth and Ruth Olmstead Waldron. She married Emery Gene Tribbey on December 14, 1946 in Iowa City, IA. He survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons, Kenneth (and Polly) Tribbey, Denver, CO and John (and Sue) Tribbey, Galesburg, a daughter, Janet (and Robert) Shimmin, Champaign, IL, and 5 grandchildren, Robert Shimmin, Sarah Howard, Alisia Jones, Edie Bishop, and Christopher Bishop.
She graduated from Peoria (IL) High School and the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Galesburg, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, and Chapter AN of PEO. She was the Assistant Extension Advisor of Knox County for the University of Illinois from 1969 to 1975.
Celebration of Life services will be 10 AM Monday in the First Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Stephen Bibb and Robert Clark will officiate. Visitation will be 9 to 10 AM Monday at the church. Private family burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Community Hospices of America.

Mrs. Mary Keith McKinnon, Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, Macomb

61, 427 S. Campbell St., died at 2:28 a.m. Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) in McDonough District Hospital.
She was born May 26, 1943, in Galesburg, the daughter of Keith O. and Marion A. Anderson Peterson. She married Jack McKinnon on April 9, 1977, in Galesburg.
Surviving are her husband; a brother, George (and Diane) Peterson, Galesburg; a nephew, Erick (and Heidi) Peterson, Des Moines, Iowa; a niece, Erin (and John) Woodward, Chicago; and two great-nieces, Avery Olivia Woodward and Morgan Marie Peterson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was an activity therapist at the former Galesburg Mental Health Center, a health occupation teacher at LaHarpe High School, an intensive care nurse and emergency room nurse at Burlington Medical Center, director of nursing at Colchester Nursing Home, director of nursing at LaHarpe Hospital, an emergency room registered nurse at McDonough District Hospital for more than 20 years, and also a trauma nurse specialist. She helped implement the McDonough District Hospital Pro’s Program, and also was a Behavioral Health Counselor at McDonough District. She was a displayer for Home Interior and Gifts.
She was a member of First Christian Church pf Macomb, where she was a senior high Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 31, 2005 at First Christian Church, Macomb, with Rev. Steven Workman officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, January 30, 2005 at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, Macomb. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital or First Christian Church of Macomb.

Mr. Harold E. Bantz, Galesburg Chapel

86, 911 N. Farnham St., Galesburg, IL died 4:10 PM Monday January 17, 2005 at his home.
He was born July 31, 1918 in Yates City, IL the son of Clarence Sidney and Edna Rogers Bantz. He married Floy A. Chase on November 30, 1940 in Galesburg, IL. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, David S. (wife Pat) Bantz of Bentonville, Arkansas and Kermit E. (wife Chris) Bantz of Minneapolis, MN, two daughters, Sonia (husband Louis) Waller of Anchorage, Alaska and LaDonna (husband Keith) Westfall of Big Lake, Alaska, one brother, Clarence W. (wife Mary) Bantz of Palno, IL, one sister, Charlotte Gordon of Deltona, FL, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Joyce Ann and Carrol Suzanne Bantz, and one brother, Rollin R. Bantz.
He served in the US Navy during WWII with the Patrol Torpedo Boats.
He worked as a carpenter and a superintendent for Fox Construction for 36 years retiring in 1983. He graduated from Yates City High School. He was very active with the Boy Scouts serving as Cub Master, Scout Master and Explorer Scout Leader. He was a member of the Carpenters Apprenticeship for Carpenters Local #360. He received a life membership with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America for 50 years of continuous membership.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg. He served as a deacon, an elder and was on the board of trustees.
Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Saturday January 29, 2005 at Hope Wesleyan Church with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. The Rev. Brian Sexton will officiate. Family will receive friends following the service at the church. Cremation will be accorded. Memorials can be made to the Local Boy Scouts of America or to the American Heart Association. Mr. Jackie W. “Jack” Easley, Galesburg Chapel

65, 295 Knox Highway 37, Wataga, IL, died at 4:04 AM Monday, January 24, 2005 in Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, IL.
He was born September 14, 1939 in Monmouth, IL the son of Clarence E. and Vivian Vollbracht Easley. He married Nancy A. Bloomgren on March 4, 1961 in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Dennis (and Laura) Easley, Cameron, IL, 2 daughters, Denise (and Douglas) Mills and Dianne (and Steven) Steck, both of Galesburg, and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He worked in maintenance at the former Admiral Corporation in Galesburg for 30 years. He retired March 31, 1994.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1957. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Galesburg. He was a past member of F.F.A. and was involved with 4 H. He was a member of the Silver Rims Motorcycle Club and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Funeral will be 10:30 AM Saturday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Kurt Carlsen will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 AM Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be made to the family to establish a memorial fund.

80, 120 N. Main St., Wataga, IL, died at 9:15 PM Tuesday, January 25, 2005 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born September 28, 1924 in East Galesburg, the daughter of George and Dola R. Johnson Cox.
Surviving is a son, Richard W. (and Barbara) Munson, Galesburg.
She worked at the former Galesburg State Research Hospital for several years. She then worked for Green Thumb for 19 years. She last worked for the Literacy Coalition Department at Carl Sandburg College for 2 years. She retired in 2001.
She graduated from Galesburg High School. She attended the Calvary Assembly of God Church, Galesburg.
Cremation will be accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials can be made to the family. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Linda F. Stomberg, Galesburg Chapel

57, 482 E. Dayton St., Galesburg, died at 2:35 PM Tuesday, January 25, 2005 in the emergency room of Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born May 28, 1947 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of Frank and Eloise Brake Armstrong. She married Robert J. Stomberg. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2003.
She is survived by her mother, Eloise Armstrong, Galesburg, 3 sons, Dan (and Lynn) Genisio, Benld, IL, Herbert (and Tina) Genisio, Pontiac, IL, and Sidney Genisio, Chicago, IL, a daughter, Glenna (and Alan) Anderson, Galesburg, 2 brothers, Steve Armstrong, Galesburg and Frank Armstrong, Boston, MA, a sister, Elaine Dowling, East Galesburg, IL, and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Genisio in 1967.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Brotherhood of the Third Wheel.

Mr. Earl R. Howard, Abingdon Chapel

85 of 407 Memorial Drive died at 1:50 pm Saturday, January 22, 2005 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
He was born on April 28, 1919 in near Good Hope in McDonough County to Carl and Lillie Jones Howard. He married Elizabeth Beer on June 12, 1948 in Avon. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John (and Nadine) Howard of Fisher, IN and Jim (and Mary) Howard of Abingdon; one sister, Helen Papie of Monmouth; two grandchildren, Adam Howard and Elise Howard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Howard.
He graduated from Blandinsville High School in 1937. He had lived in Abingdon since 1945. He worked as a bookkeeper at Dechow Motor Company and Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan and later as an accountant at the Abingdon Pottery from 1954 until retiring in 1981.
He was an Army veteran of WW II and was a member and past commander of Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon.
He was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church and a member of the former Abingdon Jaycees.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Avon Cemetery. Rev. Paul Dinges will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #381. Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West chapel in Abingdon.

Mr. LaVerne M. “Jack” Wells, Jr., Galesburg Chapel

60, of 1123 S. Farnham St., Galesburg, IL died at 8:00 PM Saturday, January 22, 2005 at his home.
He was born on October 20, 1944 in Rock Island, IL to LaVerne M. and Marguerite A. Clayton Wells. He married Gloria J. Bower in Galesburg, IL on August 19, 1967. She survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Jacqueline J. Allen of Galesburg, a brother, Richard L. (and Lisa) Wells of Galesburg and a grandson, Jacob R. Allen.
He worked for 13 years at the Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation; he then worked 16 years as a laborer of Local #538 and then for the Illinois Department of Transportation.
He served in the Navy for four years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Lee Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the OSF Hospice or the Bethel Baptist Church.

74, 1048 W. Main St., Galesburg, died at 10:52 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2005 in Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born February 15, 1930 in Texas, the daughter of Frank and Simona Escamilla Echevarria. She married Onofre Joseph Sotelo on August 26, 1950 in Albert Lea, MN. He survives.
Also surviving are a son, Joseph Sotelo, Galesburg, 5 daughters, Karen Sotelo and Barb (and Tex) Lutrell, both of Woodhull, IL, JoAnn (and Steve) Bruner, Clearwater, FL, and Becky (and Kip) Canfield and Rachel Sotelo, both of Galesburg, 5 brothers, Tim (and Nancy) Echevarria, Milford, KS, Isacc (and Dean) Echevarria, Webster, NY, Henry Murillo, San Diego, CA, Phil (and Gloria) Murillo, St. Paul, MN, and Gilbert (and Linda) Murillo, Ham Lake, MN, 3 sisters, Rebecca (and Satero) Bernal, Capitola, CA, Sara (and Jim) Conroy, Stillwater, MN, and Auroa (and Clifford) Blank, Wells, MN, 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and twin grandsons.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible in Galesburg, where she was involved with the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher. She was also involved with prison ministries and with the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
Funeral will be 10 AM Monday at the First Church of the Open Bible. The Rev. Ted Gillum will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Sunday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Mrs. Anabel L. Wall, Galesburg Chapel

79, of 1318 W.Losey St., Galesburg, IL, died at 10:00 PM Wednesday January 19, 2005 in Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL.
She was born September 18, 1925 in Missouri, the daughter of Otho and Hazel Carter Eistertz. She married Leon W. Wall on August 7, 1943 in Kahoka, MO. He died June 9, 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie (husband Richard) Sipes of Galesburg, IL and Cindy (husband Robert) Allen of Largo, FL, one step brother, Leland Doescher of Lewistown, MO, six grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother, and a step sister.
She was a waitress at the New China Café for two years and at Hillier’s Diner for a number of years. She was a homemaker. She had lived in Galesburg since 1941. She attended Rio High School.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Mike Finley will officiate. Visitation will be 2 to 4 PM Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
