Mr. Antonio "Tony" A. Ippolito, Abingdon Chapel

, 96 of 702 S. Main St. Abingdon, died at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
He was born April 1, 1909 in Sant’Arsenio, Italy to Angelo and Rosa Mangieri Ippolito. He married Carmela Costa on August 18, 1949 in Sant’Arsenio. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Angelo (and wife Sue) Ippolito of Naperville, IL; two daughters, Rose (and husband Dan) McKee of Denver, CO and Madalene (and husband Gary) Fuchs of Barrington, IL; 4 grandsons, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son and a brother.
He had lived in Abingdon since the age of twelve. He attended Abingdon schools. He worked at the Abingdon Pottery for many years.
He served in the US Army and was a member of “The Greatest Generation” and served in the Pacific and fought in New Guinea during WW II. He was cited for Meritorious Service.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Joseph Presley will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery with military rites by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 pm and from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with a Rosary service at 7:30 pm conducted by Father Ernest Pizzamiglio.

Mrs. Winnogene K. Trachsel, Abingdon Chapel

85, of 203 W. North St. Apt. 1, died at 1:15 am Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
She was born January 9, 1920 in Abingdon, the daughter of James and Easter Taylor Courson. She married Ray Trachsel on July 9, 1945 in Macomb. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1979.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Victor Courson and Paul “Buss” Courson, three sisters, Edith Roberts Dehm, Velma McGill and Ruby Jones.
Surviving are nephews and nieces including Lyle (and wife Karen) Roberts of Abingdon who were her caregivers.
She had lived in the Abingdon area most of her life. She and her husband owned and operated the former Ray’s Lunch and Wagon Wheel Restaurant on Monmouth Boulevard in Galesburg for 23 years.
She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church and attended the First Assembly of God in Abingdon.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 am Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg. Rev. Allan Springer will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Roberta "Bobbie" Marie Lankford, Abingdon Chapel

69 of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon went to be with the Lord at 4:46 am Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
She was born January 11, 1936 in Bushnell to Andrew and Bertha Faler Day. She married Robert Cozad and they had three daughters, Vickie Edwards and Christine (and husband Bjorn) Ericson both of Galesburg, Deborah (and husband Steven) Rehn of Plano, TX.
. She later married Kenneth “Bud” Lankford on November 23, 1974 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1991.
Also surviving are her mother and stepfather, Bertha and Ronald Burgess of Abingdon; three sisters, her twin sister Alberta “Maggie (and husband Leanelle) Hanson of Knoxville, Gloria Ratajczak of Abingdon, Vonneda Johnson of Bushnell; two brothers, James (and wife Norma) Day of Galesburg and Samuel Burgess of Abingdon.
She was a loving grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her father.
She was a member and past president of Professional Business Women in Abingdon. She was an interior decorator and owned and operated the former Abingdon Upholstery and Creative Upholstery in Galesburg.
She was actively involved in Jubilee Christian Center in Austin, TX while she lived there and was one leaders of the children ministry.
She enjoyed her crafts, her flowers and landscaping, and decorating her home.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 am Saturday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday at the chapel.

Mr. Raymond "Ray" C. Jones, Sr., Abingdon Chapel

, 80 of Oldsmar, FL died Monday evening, February 21, 2005 at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Florida.
He was born on September 10, 1924 in Dacoma, OK to Homer and Grace Parker Jones. He married Dona L. Thurman on March 28, 1946 in Medicine Lodge, KS. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Michael G. (and Jayne) Jones of Abingdon, Ivan L. (and Janice) Jones of Bell Buckle, TN, Raymond C. “RC” Jones, Jr. of Kewanee; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Willie Jones and one sister, Bessie Soper.
He had lived in Abingdon most of his life where he owned and operated the former Ray’s Service station for 25 years. After retiring, he moved to Florida in 1995.
While living in Abingdon, he was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, a member and Paul Harris Fellow of the Abingdon Rotary Club, served on the Zoning Board and coached Little League Baseball.
He was a member of the Abingdon Pottery Collector’s Club.
He was a WW II veteran serving in the US Air Force.
Cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Life Service was held at the Gull Aire Village Clubhouse in Oldsmar. Graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at the Abingdon Cemetery. Matt Jones will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381.

Mr. Richard E. “Dick” Price, Galesburg Chapel

61, of 702 Lombard St., Galesburg, IL died at 8:37 AM Monday May 23, 2005 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1944 in Galesburg, IL the son of Wendall and Laura Haynes Price. He married Nancy Sue Trulock on December 14, 1963 in Kahokia, MO.
Survivors include his mother, Laura Price of Galesburg, IL, one daughter, Tiffiny (husband Don) Pool of Illinois, three sisters, Sharon Hambsch of Galesburg, IL, Judy Bettisworth of Galesburg, IL, and Wendy (husband George) Wilson of Elgin, IL, two grandsons, one granddaughter, one step grandson, and one step granddaughter.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a Galesburg Gymnastic Coach for 35 years. He lived in Galesburg all his life. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1962 and attended Western Illinois University. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2257. He was a chairman of the Illinois Gymnastic Federation. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be 11:30 AM Saturday, May 28, 2005 in Avon Cemetery, Avon, IL with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. The Rev. Scott Grulke will officiate. 71, 1512 W. Tomar Court, Peoria, formerly of Galesburg died at 8:56 AM Tuesday, May 24, 2005 in Manor Care, Peoria, IL.
She was born March 12, 1934 in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Charles and Rose Oberlander Swigart. She married Glenn H. Miller on November 20, 1955 in Galesburg. He survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons, Keith D. Miller, Smyrna, TN and Jeff A. Miller, Gilson, IL, a daughter, Peggy (and Ron) Kennedy, Normal, IL, 4 brothers, Francis “Dick” Swigart, Alamo, TX, Jack Swigart, Oquawka, IL, Carl Swigart, Alamo, TX, and Charles F. Swigart, Knoxville, IL, a sister, Barbara Coons, Prairie City, IL, and 4 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers.
She was a registered nurse. She first worked at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in pediatrics, then as a private duty nurse. She then was a nurse in the transportation department of Galesburg Community School District 205, Galesburg Mental Health Center, and finally Zeller Mental Health Center in Peoria before retiring. She had lived most of her life in Galesburg and in Peoria since 1992.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1952 and then from the Cottage Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg. She was a member of the Cottage Hospital Nurse’s Alumnae Association.
Funeral will be 10 AM Friday, May 27, 2005 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8 PM Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Audrey Faye Nelson, Galesburg Chapel

Mrs. Audrey Faye Nelson, 91, of 280 E. Losey St. formerly of 170 S. West St. Galesburg IL died at 3:35 PM Thursday at May 19, 2005 in Cottage Hospital.

She was born April 5, 1914 in Green County IA the daughter of Ephraim and Sarah Elizabeth Guiter Harland.

Survivors include a nephew Gary (wife Sharon) Shipplett of Abingdon IL and several nieces and nephews survive. She is preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

She worked as a seamstress for Gross Company in Galesburg IL retiring in 1977. She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. She was a Die-Hard Cub Fan.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Point Pleasant Cemetery in Marietta IL. The Rev. Raymond McLaren will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials can be made Abingdon Christian Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Margaret Ileen Boydstun Johnson, Abingdon Chapel

80 of 16221 S. Santa Rita Road, Sahuarita, AZ formerly of St. Augustine, IL died at 3:00 pm Thursday, May 19, 2005 at her home.
She was born March 15, 1925 in Galesburg, the daughter of Ray H. and Ida Louise Marks Boydstun. She married Gerald Harlan Johnson on June 2, 1946 at the family farm south of Abingdon near St. Augustine. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Gerald H. “Lanny” (and wife Linda) Johnson, Jr. of Edgar, AZ, Randy L. (and wife Jere Ann) Johnson and Neil R. (and wife Sallie) Johnson all of Sahuarita; one daughter, Peggy L. Judd of Sahuarita; two brothers, William R. (and wife Libby) Boydstun of Galesburg and Wayne E. (and wife Marilyn) Boydstun of RR St. Augustine; 6 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1943 and then attended Houston State Texas College, Houston, TX.
She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church.
She and her family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1956 due to health reasons.
Graveside services were held Monday, May 23, 2005 at South Lawn Cemetery in Tucson, AZ.

Mrs. Patricia A. Bangert, Galesburg Chapel

55, 3520 N. Rochelle, Peoria, IL, died at 3:22 PM Monday, May 16, 2005 in Proctor Hospital, Peoria, IL.
She was born June 12, 1949 in Galesburg, the daughter of Ralph A. and Eunice E. Harding Ebbing. She married Michael Bangert.
She is survived by a son, Brett (and Michelle) Bangert, Peoria, IL and a brother, Mike Ebbing, Lake Forest, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was an LPN, working at several area nursing homes. She graduated from Warren High School in 1967. She then graduated from the LPN program at Carl Sandburg College.
Graveside services will be 10 AM Monday in East Linwood Cemetery. The Rev. Tom Heather will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Grace L. Maxwell, Galesburg Chapel

90, 275 E. Carl Sandburg Drive, formerly of 1665 W. Ferris St., Galesburg, died at 9:50 AM Wednesday, May 18, 2005 in Marigold Health Care Center.
She was born September 21, 1914 in Galesburg, the daughter of Henry and Minnie Larson Pont. She married Giles Ensley Maxwell on June 27, 1936 in Rio, IL. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1965.
She is survived by a daughter, Rita (and Burl) Anderson, Galesburg, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
She was a nurse’s aide at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1985. She had been named the employee of the month. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1932 and lived in Galesburg and Rio all of her life. She was a member of the Rio Presbyterian Church.
Funeral will be 1:30 PM Monday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. James Hazelwood will officiate. Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 PM Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Rio Cemetery, Rio, IL. Memorials can be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
