Mr. Thomas B. Carter, Sr., Abingdon Chapel

, 74 of Abingdon, died at 2:22 am Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
He was born Feb. 1, 1932 in Hamilton, Alabama to PT and Susie Burrows Carter. He married Georgia Dunn on July 9, 1996 in Baraboo, WI. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Thomas (Mary Linda) Carter, Jr. of Galesburg, IL; one daughter, Linda Gail (Steve) VanFleet of Galesburg, IL; two stepsons, Frank “Tony” Jackson of Daytona Beach, FL and Mark Jackson of Astoria, IL; two stepdaughters, Tammy (Tim) Lindsey of Armington, IL and Joey Jackson of Layton, UT; three brothers, Tony (Janette) Carter of Jefferson, GA, Roland (Paula) Carter of Moline, IL and Woodrow (Denise) Carter of Detroit, AL; one sister, Alice (Wiley) Cook of Orion, IL; 1 grandchild, 2 great grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Wilson Carter.
He grew up near Hamilton and Detroit, Alabama. He had lived in Abingdon since 1959.
He worked at the CB & Q Railroad, Koppers Inc., and the BNSF Railroad in Galesburg for 41 years retiring in 1997.
He was a past member of the Galesburg Moose Lodge. He also had served as a union clerk.
He was an avid fisherman, did woodworking, and enjoyed traveling and his family.
Cremation will be accorded. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 9:00 pm Monday, Feb. 27, 2006 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, IL at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Galesburg Railroad Museum.

Mrs. Janet L. Wallick, Abingdon Chapel

54 of Roseville, formerly of Abingdon died at 7:15 pm Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at her home.
She was born March 26, 1951 in Galesburg to Charles D. and Shirley D. Huggins Briggs, Sr. She married Bill Wright. She later married Patrick D. Wallick, Sr. on February 14, 1987 in Galesburg. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Crystal Wright of Bushnell; three sons, Kevin Wright of Rock Island, Patrick Wallick, Jr. of Macomb and Nathan Wallick of Vienna, IL; four brothers, Charles (Marna) Briggs, Jr. of Abingdon, James (Shirley) Briggs in Maryland, William (Linda) Briggs in Texas and Judson (Peggi) Briggs of Dubuque, IA; 4 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She graduated from Carl Sandburg College with a nursing degree. She worked at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for fifteen years as a senior LPN.
She had lived in Roseville the past nine years and in Abingdon prior to that.
She served in the Air National Guard for seven years and received the “Airman of the Year” award.
She was an avid bowler and was past president of the Roseville Women’s Bowling League. She enjoyed building doll houses and sewing.
Funeral service will be at 4:00 pm Sunday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Father. Anthony Lee will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday at the chapel. Military rites will be conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Cremation will be accorded following the service.

Mr. Michael D. (Mic) Olson, Galesburg Chapel

23, 470 E. Second St., Galesburg was pronounced dead at 10 AM Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at 125 E. Main St.
He was born December 28, 1982 in Galesburg.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Steve and Laura Olson of Maquon, IL, his mother and stepfather, Becky and Dave Ryner, Galesburg, his paternal grandfather, James Davis, Pekin, IL, his maternal grandfather, Larry E. Strahlman, Galesburg, step great grandparents, Richard and Fran Sturgeon, Galesburg, great aunt, Erma Eiker, Galesburg, great aunt and uncle, Betty and Ken Wubben, Peoria, IL, an aunt, an uncle, a brother, Matthew Olson, Galesburg, a step brother, Justin Morris, Galesburg, 4 step sisters, Tammy Laycock in California, Traci Ryner, Galesburg, Kimmi Walker, Peoria, and Angie Ryner, Springfield, IL, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Arthur and Louesa Strahlman, grandmother, Barbara Davis, great grandmother, Dorothy Hess, and an uncle Don Harbur.
He was a painter with Olson Painting for 5 years and worked for Soangetaha Country Club for 8 years.
He graduated from Galesburg High School midterm 2001. He was a member of Hope Wesleyan Church in Galesburg.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be 3 PM Sunday, February 26, 2006 at Soangetaha Country Club. All friends and family are invited.

Mr. Michael W. Dawson, Galesburg Chapel

51, 382 Oak St., Galesburg, died at 7 PM Saturday, February 18, 2006 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born October 29, 1954 in Galesburg the son of Melvin and Fran Dutcher Dawson. He was raised by his mother and step father, Fran and Bill Walker. He married Candace L. St. George on January 19, 1980 in Galva, IL. She survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Andrea Boggan of Galesburg, twin sons, Michael H. Dawson and Patrick D. Dawson, both of Galesburg, 3 grandchildren, a brother, Jim Dawson in Texas, and a step brother, Bill Walker of Abingdon. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, and a brother, Ronnie Dawson.
He worked at Butler Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for 32 years until the time of its closure. He graduated from Galesburg High School.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He also bowled on the Trinity Church Men’s League and the Friday Night Sportsman’s Mixed League.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be 2 PM Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Tom Larsen will officiate. Visitation will be 1 to 2 PM Saturday at the church. A scattering of ashes will be at a later date. Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, the Knox County Relay for Life, or the Cottage Hospital Skilled Care Unit. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wanda M. Nicholas, Galesburg Chapel

85, 1503 Mulberry St., Galesburg, died at 7:20 PM Monday, February 20, 2006 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born April 11, 1920 in Abingdon, IL, the daughter of Everett and Ida Webber Strickland. She married George W. Nicholas, Sr. on October 25, 1940 in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1990.
She is survived by 5 sons, George Jr. “Buster” (and Pam) Nicholas, Galesburg, Jack (and Terrie) Roberts, Spokane, WA, Mike Nicholas, Elk, WA, Rick (and LeeAnne) Nicholas, Deer Park, WA, and Steve (and Rachelle) Nicholas, Eugene, OR, 3 daughters, Georgia Lind, Knoxville, IL, Connie Parker, Galesburg, and Sherry (and Lew) Koehler, Benton Harbor, MI, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
She was a homemaker who had lived in the Abingdon and Galesburg areas most of her life. She attended Abingdon schools. She was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren.
Funeral will be 1 PM Thursday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be Noon to 1 PM Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Lung Association or American Heart Association.

Mrs. Mildred M. Moore, Galesburg

89, of 1259 Florence Ave. Galesburg, IL died 12:07 AM Saturday February 18, 2006 at Galesburg Terrace.
She was born February 25, 1916 in Abingdon, IL to William T. and Mable H. Atchison Trimble. She married Harold R. Moore February 28, 1933 in Galesburg, IL. He preceded her in death January 26, 1982.
Surviving are two sons Virgil R. his wife Bonnie Moore of Galesburg and Garry B. Moore of Irving Texas, two daughters Margie Johnson of Knoxville, IL and Connie her husband Jerry Healey of Lake St. Louis, MO, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons Jimmy and Rodney Moore and two sisters.
She was a bookkeeper for Electrical Maintenance Service for thirteen years and then Moore Electric in Galesburg. She was one of the first teacher’s aids at the former Allen Park School in Galesburg working under Title One. She later worked in the cafeteria of Galesburg Senior High School and retired in 1978. She attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Galesburg. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and reading programs for area schools and her church. She was a member of the United Methodist Woman Group. She lived in Galesburg for sixty years after moving from Abingdon.
Funeral service will be 1:30 PM Wednesday February 22, 2006 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with the Rev. Marilyn Anell officiating. Visitation will be 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association or Community Hospices of America.

Infant Javier Joseph Regalado, Galesburg Chapel

of Galesburg IL died at 5:00 PM Wednesday February 22, 2006 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born on February 22, 2006 in Galesburg the son of Arcadio J. and Melissa J. Trone Regalado.

He is survived by his parents, his grandfather Murel Trone of Galesburg IL, a grandmother Mary Trone of Peoria, IL, grandparents Fred and Sharon Custer of Galesburg, two great grandmothers Eula Bushnell of Springfield, IL and Phyllis Cabrera of Galesburg and several nieces, nephews and cousins survive. He is preceded in death by one great grandfather Virgil Trone.

He was of the Christian Faith.

Mrs. Pauline J. Rylander, Galesburg Chapel

88, 127 N. Joy St., Oneida, IL died at 1:05 AM Wednesday, February 15, 2006 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born November 18, 1917 in Bushnell, IL, the daughter of Jesse and Pearl Postin Yocum. She married Verner V. Rylander on December 11, 1935 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1998.
She is survived by 2 sons, John (and Marybeth) Rylander, Sterling, IL and Chuck (and Judy) Rylander, Oneida, IL, a daughter, Karen (and Ron) Moody, Altona, IL, a sister, Norma Litchfield, rural Alexis, IL, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian Voss in 2004.
She was a homemaker. She also had worked at Mitchell Dry Goods in Oneida. She had lived most of her life in Oneida. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona.
Funeral will be 10 AM Tuesday, February 21, 2006 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Tim Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oneida Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Marjorie J. Trulock Reathaford, Abingdon Chapel

88, a resident of the Monmouth Nursing Home, formerly of Abingdon, died at 10:59 am Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 at the nursing home.
She was born April 26, 1917 in Cooperstown, IL to Milton Calvin and Harriet Elizabeth Whited Herren. She married James Clifford Reathaford on Jan. 9, 1935 in Beardstown, IL. They were divorced. She then married James Trulock on Nov. 27, 1972 in Kahokia, MO. He preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1984. She later remarried James Clifford Reathaford on July 5, 1986 in Dallas City, IL. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1999.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, James W. Reathaford (infant)and Gary Lee Reathaford, one stepson, Rich Trulock, six brothers and 4 sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Joan Stringer of Cadiz, KY ; one stepson, Eddie Trulock; a sister-in-law, Alice Marie Menely of Abingdon; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren.
She was raised in Versailles, IL, where she attended school. She had lived in Abingdon most of her life and wintered in McAllen, TX from 1980 until 2000.
She worked at the former Gale Products in Galesburg for 26 ½ years retiring on May 31, 1979.
She attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Abingdon and the Pontoosuc Community Church in Pontoosuc, IL
She was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary in Abingdon.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 pm Monday at the chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Historical Society.

Miss E. Pauline Neice, Galesburg Chapel

101, 2345 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, IL died at 3:15 PM Tuesday February 7, 2006 in Seminary Manor Nursing Home.
She was born July 8, 1904 in St. Augustine, IL the daughter of George M. and Mary Elizabeth Gray Neice.
She is survived by a great niece, Margaret Wilkins of Galesburg and preceded by a great niece Shirley Bednarcik on February 24, 2005. She is also survived by a special friend, Virginia Hinchliff of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.
She was a school teacher working for Galesburg Community Unit School District #205 for 45 years. She taught at Lombard, Hitchcock Jr. High and Churchill Jr. High schools. She retired in 1967. She graduated from Avon High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Western Illinois University and her Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois. She had lived in Galesburg since 1923. She was a member and former president of the Galesburg Women’s Club. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of the Melotomen Club. She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she was a teacher for the Lookout Class and held several offices.
A Memorial service is scheduled for 10 AM Monday February 20, 2006 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. There will be no visitation. A private family burial will be held in East Linwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made to the First Christian Church.
