Mrs. Lila Blanche Shultz, Galesburg Chapel

83, of Galesburg, died at 2:23 AM Tuesday, March 28, 2006 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Lila was a caring and compassionate mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a hard-working individual. She was born in Fargo, North Dakota on September 16, 1922, the daughter of Everett J. and Mary Elizabeth Dorothy. She married Kenneth E. Hannen in 1946. He preceded her in death along with one brother and her parents.
Lila is survived by one daughter, Mary A. Davis (and Greg) of Galesburg, three grandchildren, Amy Simpson (and Shane) of Wataga, Alicia Eastburg (and Aaron), and Bradley Davis, both of Galesburg, three step grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Lila moved from North Dakota to Springfield, MO and settled in the Abingdon/Galesburg area, where she spent most of her life. She was extremely dedicated to her work as an assembler at Maytag. She retired from Maytag in 1985 after 31 years.
A joy to be around, my mother, our grandmother, our friend loved to play bingo. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Ladies Classic Bowling League.
Lila, a feisty, free spirited woman, always had it her way. Never afraid to speak her mind, we all knew we could count on her for the honest truth. Just ask the nurses at Marigold and the nurses in the ICU at Cottage Hospital. They would agree. She cared a lot about them and appreciated their help. They all loved her, she was fun.
Lila enjoyed watching her grandson play baseball and her granddaughters grow. She was a true St. Louis Cardinal fan and a lover of country music. Tracy Bird’s song “The Keeper of the Stars” was her favorite song. She truly will be the star above to which we all will see. We love you.
The family will receive friends at the home of Greg and Mary Davis, 804 Columbus Ave., Galesburg, from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, March 30, 2006. Private graveside services will be held Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
