Mr. Wilbert E. McLaren, Galesburg Chapel

age 77 of 213 N. Pleasant Ave. Galesburg, Il. died at 4:20 pm Sunday May 27, 2007 at his home.

He was born November 29, 1929 in Canton IL the son of Emery W. and Grace Hedden McLaren. He married Connie L. Burton in Knoxville IL on January 22, 1949. She died November 3, 2006.

He is survived by three sons Jerry (Leah) McLaren of Galesburg, Larry McLaren of Galesburg, Gary McLaren of Peoria, one daughter Terri (Rick) Hopping of Galesburg, one sister Shirley Soper of Galesburg, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers and one sister.

He worked for the Lucky Boy Bakery for 20 years. He later worked as a core maker for Aluminum Castings Foundry for 25 years. He retired October 1994.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Daniel Siems will officiate. Visitation will be 6:30-8:00 PM Wednesday at the chapel. Mr. Carl E. Peters, Galesburg Chapel

75 of Galesburg, died at 5:25 AM Thursday May 24, 2007 at his home.
He was born July 20, 1931 in Henry County, IL the son of Herman F. and Grace Manthe Peters. He married Donna K. Duke in Galesburg on July 13, 1962. She survives.
Also surviving are six sons, Rev. Vincent C. of Bloomington, IL, Randy of Katy, TX, Rodney of Houston, TX Corky (and Mary) of Gilson, Terry of VA, and David (and Tina) of Holliday, FL, five sisters, Adelia (and William) McRell of Hillsdale, IL, Elma Woolley of Lynn Center, IL, Frances Craine of Geneseo, IL, Freda Dorris of Orion, IL, and Ann (and Joe) Vincent of Cambridge, IL and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Robert “Bobby” on September 12, 1994, one brother, and one granddaughter.
He worked as a truck driver for Canada Dry and RC Cola for 33 years. Then he was owner and operator of the RC Distributor for 10 years. He later was a salesman for Louis Lakis Ford for several years, retiring in 1999. He graduated from Alwood High School in 1949. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served on Church Council and was a Sunday School Teacher.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. His son, Fr. Vincent Peters will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the chapel. Mrs. Cheryl L. Johnson, Galesburg Chapel

46, of 261 N. Pearl St., died at 6:42 AM Thursday May 24, 2007 at her home.
She was born October 7, 1960 in Monroe, WI the daughter of George E. and Joyce E. Van Dusen Sandman, Jr. She married Jimmy Johnson in Galesburg on June 26, 1983. He survives.
Also surviving is her father, George E. (and Judy Ann) Sandman, Jr. of Dunkirk, MD, her step father, Dick Clarke of Herman, IL, two sons, Scott P. Johnson and Shawn P. Johnson, both of Galesburg, one brother, Mark (and Rita) Sandman of Abingdon, one sister, Shelley A. Sandman (and Michael Roberts) of Galesburg, two nieces, and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, and two sisters, Starr Lynn and Sharon Lisa.
She worked as a vocational specialist for Achievement Industries-Warren Achievement in Monmouth for 15 years. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1978. She also attended Carl Sandburg College. She was a tutor for the Spoon River Literacy. She enjoyed cats and dogs, music and dancing. She was on several dart leagues. She was of the Methodist faith.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Wednesday May 30, 2007 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. David Kramer will officiate. Mrs. Millie M. Prina, Galesburg Chapel

94, Canton, IL, formerly of Galesburg, IL, died Saturday May 26, 2007 at 3:00 PM at Heartland Health Care Center, Canton.
She was born July 16, 1912 in St. David, IL the daughter of Peter and Phyllis Donna Ferro. She married Peter Prina in Davenport, IA on November 2, 1938. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1975.
She is survived by one son, Stephen Prina, Los Angeles, CA and Cambridge, MA, one daughter-in-law, Jean Prina, Charlotte, NC, one brother, Peter (and Mary Ann), St. David, IL, two grandchildren, Christine Prina, Boston, MA and Peter (and Kelly) Prina, Chicago, IL, and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Prina and John Prina, two brothers, Steve Ferro and Dom Ferro, and one sister, Frances Buyan.
She was a homemaker and she and her husband owned and operated Pete’s Market in Galesburg for 40 years. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Forresters, and the Ladies of Mary. She volunteered at St. Marys Hospital for many years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM Wednesday May 30, 2007 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. The Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 AM Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be noon to 1 PM at the chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Ms. M. Jane Robertson, Galesburg Chapel

78, 550 E. Carl Sandburg Drive, Galesburg, died at 8:50 PM Sunday, May 20, 2007 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born August 11, 1928 in Rock Island, IL the daughter of Walter and Jessie Hoefle Robertson.
She is survived by a brother, John (and Cynthia) Robertson, Galesburg, and 3 nieces, Ann, Sara, and Kathryn. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She taught health and physical education at Knoxville High School 1951-1952, was editorial assistant at Blue Cross Commission in Chicago 1952-1955, assistant in administrative medicine at Columbia University School of Public Health and Administrative Medicine in New York City 1957-1961, executive secretary of Patient Care Planning Council in Rochester, NY 1962-1968, program consultant and director of health activities in health programs funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission in Washington, DC 1969-1973, assistant director then executive director of Illowa Health Systems Agency in Davenport, IA 1973-1980, consultant to the Puget Sound Health Systems Agency in Seattle, WA 1980-1981. In 1994, she retired as executive director of V.N.A. Community Services in Galesburg.
She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1946 and Augustana College in Rock Island in 1950. She attended graduate courses in administrative medicine at Columbia University School of Public Health and Administrative Medicine in 1956-1957. She earned her master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1969.
She had been a member of the American Hospital Association, the American Public Health Association, and the American Association of Areawide Health Planners. She had served on the board of directors of Family Planning Service of Western Illinois as secretary and the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging as president.

Mr. Mack Allen Glass, Galesburg Chapel

86, of 2528 140th St., Galesburg died at 10:15 PM Monday May 21, 2007 in Rosewood Care Center.
He was born December 15, 1920 in Saskatchewan, Canada the son of Tanner and Mary Allen Glass. He married Sarah “Sally” Wallace on October 15, 1944 in the Coldbrook Christian Church, Cameron, IL. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2003.
He is survived by three daughters, Rhonda (and Don) LeFebvre of Cameron, Beverly Jean (and John) Stamp of Marcellus, Michigan, and Lisa Beth (and Jim) McKenzie of Pekin, IL; one brother, Wayne (and Elaine) Glass of Galesburg; three sisters, Joyce Coffman of Galesburg, Lillian (and Bud) Pogue of Galesburg, and Hazel (and Bob) Lichty of Denver, CO, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the US Army from 1942-1946 during WWII as 1st Lieutenant, stationed in the states.
He taught school in Kirkwood High School for one year. He was a sales manager of Smith Douglas Farm Chemicals for 25 years. He worked at First Galesburg National Bank and Trust Company in public relations for 15 years. He had a radio show on Agriculture in Galesburg for four stations for 10 years. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1939. He attended the University of Illinois for two years. He was a past president and very active in all projects of the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Agriculture Alumni Association at the University of Illinois. He was a member and past board member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a past board member of Alexis School.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 AM Friday May 25, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. David Parker will officiate. He was born January 6, 1917 in Keokuk County, IA, the son of Earl W. and Florence Wharton Williamson. He married Eloise L. Weidner on August 15, 1943 in Crete, NE. She survives.
Also surviving are 3 sons, Terry (and Reneé) Williamson, North Richland Hills, TX, Scott (and Cindy) Williamson, Galesburg, and Jamie (and Susie) Williamson, San Ramon, CA, 2 daughters, Linda (and Ralph) Myron, Galesburg and Jill (and Marc) Johnson, North Richland Hills, TX, 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and 2 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters.
He was a barber at Chuck’s Barber Shop for 47 years. He retired January 1, 1986. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1934 and lived most of his life here.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285, and O.A.K.S.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1941 to 1945 during WWII and was stationed in Okinawa.

He was born November 27, 1934 in Galesburg, the son of Theodore Clive and Lucille C. Bryant Hunter.
He is survived by a special friend, Pat Patch, Galesburg, his mother, Lucille C. Hunter, Galesburg, a step son, Doug Bass, Fulton, IL, a brother, Ted L. (and Nancy) Hunter, Rio, IL, a sister, Joyce L. (and Tom) Peterson, Chetek, WI, 3 nephews, and a niece. He was preceded in death by his father.
He was a tool and die maker at the former Admiral Corporation for 50 years. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1952 and had lived here all of his life. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army.

She was born August 23, 1944 in Galesburg, the daughter of William D. and Eula Mae Downey Van Fleet.
She is survived by her father, William D. Van Fleet, Galesburg and a brother, Wendell L. (and Bonnie) Van Fleet, Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her mother on June 7, 2005.
She graduated from Galesburg High School and had lived her entire life here. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

He was born July 4, 1922 in Aledo, IL, the son of Henning E. and Clara J. Miller Munson. He married Shirley M. Saxer on September 30, 1956 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2002.
He is survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers.
He was a farmer in the Rio and Ontario areas. He retired in 1985.
