81, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Marigold Rehab & Health Care Center in Galesburg. She was previously living in Alton, IL.
She was born April 29, 1927 in Altona, IL to Carroll Fleming and Mary Ann (White) Fansler. She married Donald Clyde Kapple on April 16, 1949. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1996.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Pauline Fansler of Galesburg and Lucille Olson of Galva, and many nieces and nephews.
She worked during her life as a bookkeeper or salesclerk for the following business: E.W. Houghton Lbr., Wehners Furniture, Fisher Lbr., and Superior Carpet.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday November 29, 2008 at the Galva Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Community Hospices of America or the Disabled Veterans Association. Hinchliff-Pearson-West is in charge of arrangements. age 92 of Horn Lake, Ms. formerly of Galesburg, IL. died Tuesday October 21, 2008 in Southaven, Ms.
He was born October 14, 1916 in Galesburg, IL. the son of T. “Jeff” Davis and Rosa V. “Imschweiler” Davis. He married Kathryn E. Bauer in Galesburg, IL. on May 29, 1938 she preceded him in death March 31, 2000.
He is survived by one son Chuck and Suzanne Davis, Jr. of Asheville, N.C., two daughters Janeen and Bill Marshall, and Betty and John Herhalt both of Horn Lake, Ms., six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1934 and was a Knox College under-graduate of the class of 1938. He worked at the former Gale Products and Admiral Corp. for 14 years. He was a building contractor and also owned and operated a grocery store on East Main St. for several years. He was a member of the Universalist Church serving on the church board of trustees and as moderator. He was a member of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., and sang in one of their quartets. He was an avid Siwash supporter and a member of the Knox-Lombard 50 year Club. He loved to write poetry for the amusement of his family and Siwasher friends.
Cremation was accorded. Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday November 29, 2008 at 10 AM at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel with Rev Marilyn Anell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials maybe made to the Knox College Athletic Department, Knox-Lombard 50 Year Club, or the charity of the donors choice.

78, of 401 Craver Ave. died at 8:50 am Monday, November 24, 2008 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
She was born on March 17, 1930 at the family home in rural Warren County near Monmouth to Clarence Dewey and Minnie Mae Shumate Hobbs. She married Robert L. Nuckles on January 16, 1948 in Monmouth, IL. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons-in-law, Howard Welsh and Rich Trulock, and a grandson, Kyle Welsh.
Audrey is survived by three daughters, Linda (and Dave) Ryan of Abingdon, Susan Trulock of Galesburg and Lynne (and Gene) Skinner of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Jason Hahn, Barry Welsh, Jeremy Trulock, Matt Skinner and Gina Skinner; four step-grandchildren, Dustin (and Janice) Welsh, Steve (and Chris) Ryan, Brett Ryan and Rachel (and Ryan) Potts; nine step-great grandchildren, Dakota Welsh, Devin Welsh, Demi Welsh, Stephanie Shephard, Stephen Shephard, Tanner Ryan, Kolby Ryan, Jack Potts and Gracie Potts.
She grew up in the Aledo and Monmouth areas and attended Aledo High School and later graduated from Monmouth High School. She had lived most of her adult life in Abingdon. She was a homemaker and had also worked in the office at the Blue Bell, worked at Jennings Dry Cleaning, worked at the Maid-Rite and later in the office at Abingdon Farm Equipment.
She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. She was also a member of the Abingdon Boat Club, the Junior Women’s Club, the Women and Couples Bridge Clubs, the Ladies and Couples Golf Leagues at Laurel Greens Public Golf Club in Knoxville.
Audrey loved to read, do cross stitching and embroidery. Her grandchildren were the love of her life.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Jerald Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the chapel.
Memorials may be made to John Mosser Public Library, Abingdon First Responders or the Abingdon Christian Church.

76, 1092 S. Chambers St., Galesburg died at 4:26 PM Thursday November 20, 2008 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1932 in Rushville, IL the daughter of Marvin and Goldie Weaver Knous. She married Henry Lenover on June 20, 1949 in Rushville. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1950. She later married Theodore Paben on August 15, 1953 in Augusta, IL. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1997.
She is survived by two sons, Mark (Mary Anderson) Paben of Galesburg and Stanley L. (Dawn) Lenover of Kissimmee, FL; one daughter, Dorothy C. (Charles) Hess of Galesburg; one brother, Melvin Knous of Beardstown, IL; one sister, Irene (Morland) Jones of Camden, IL; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, three sons, two brothers and two sisters.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed writing, art work and loved her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday November 25, 2008 in Rushville Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Grulke will officiate. She was born July 24, 1927 in Jersey City, NJ to Frank and Agnes Kennedy Gerhardt. She married William M. Kellett June 23, 1946 in South Ozone Park, NY. He preceded her in death October 31, 2000.
Surviving is a daughter Janet “Alice” (husband Ric) of Knoxville, IL a sister Ann Lynch of Hempstead, NY and 2 grandsons Zach Larson and Jacob Larson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Dolores was a homemaker. She lived in Long Island, NY before moving to Galesburg for the last 30 years. She was an active member of Corpus Christi Church, Galesburg and attended mass on Thursdays with her dear friend Bea Hedrick. She was a past member of SPEC (Special People Encounter with Christ). Dolores loved gardening and her little dog “Muffin”.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday November 25, 2008 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Chapel. 86, 550 E. Carl Sandburg Drive, Galesburg, died at 9:28 AM Friday, November 21, 2008 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born January 12, 1922 in Galesburg, the son of George and Mable Hannam Gehring. He married Beverly Jane VanVuren in 1946 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2004.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Patty (and Mike) Doores of Galesburg and Mary (and Norm) Ostermann of Pittsburgh, PA, 4 grandchildren, Steve (and Sandi) Doores, Brent (and Kathy) Doores, Kim (and Dan) Hostovich, and Ericka Ostermann, 2 great grandchildren, Alexis Hostovich and Anne Marie Doores, a brother, Bruce (and Helen) Gehring of Port Byron, IL, a sister, Jean Maze of Rockford, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cleo Calhoun.
Russell was an agent for Prudential Life Insurance Company for 36 years, from 1948 until he retired in 1984. He graduated from Oneida High School in 1940 and from Brown’s Business College in 1948. He was a member of the Covenant Church, where he had previously served on the board.
He was past president and a 50 year member of the Galesburg Kiwanis Club, past president of the Galesburg Life Underwriters Association, and was involved with the LUTC on a state level. Russell was a life member of the VFW Post 2257 and Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. He had lived in Oneida and Galesburg his entire life.
Russell served in World War II and was stationed in Hawaii, New Guinea, the Philippines, and Japan. He was a recipient of 2 Bronze Stars.
Funeral will be 11:00 AM Monday November 24, 2008 at the Covenant Church. The Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Covenant Church. She was born July 9, 1926 in Pleasant View, IL the daughter of Wilbur and Sarah Lambert Steele. She married Robert P. Walters in Sacramento, CA in 1946. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ray (Linda) Walters of Lindenhurst, IL and Rev. Michael (Cheryl) Walters of Alexandrea, VA; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
She was a homemaker. She graduated from Rushville High School. She has lived in Galesburg over 50 years. She was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church.

She was born October 13, 1942 in Forrest City, Arkansas the daughter of Darnell and Corena Powell Walker. She married Albert Johnson on June 13, 1967 in Galesburg. He died April 9, 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Cedric Johnson and Kenneth Johnson, both of Galesburg; three daughters, Irene Smith of Sterling, IL, Valerie Johnson of Chicago, and Lechaunte Johnson of Galesburg; one sister, Jeannie Shelton of Galesburg, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers.
She worked as a cashier for a dry cleaners and a grocery store. She also was involved with community service and was a volunteer. She graduated from Galesburg High School and attended Malcolm X College. She was a member of the Neighborhood Watch. She was a member of the Allen Chapel AME Church.

87, of Columbus NC formerly of Galesburg died at 10:10 AM Sunday November 16, 2008 in the Tryon Estates in Columbus NC.
She was born June 25, 1921 in Clinton OK the daughter of James D. and Madonna Faye Greening Bailey. She married John P. Highlander in Goldsboro, NC on December 24, 1942. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2000.
She is survived by three nieces Sarah (Stephen Bultema) Highlander of Houston, TX, Nancy (Peter) Ellefson of Kalamazoo, MI and Susan (Reed) Fritz of Dallas TX; two nephews John (Alicia) Highlander of Chicago IL and Steven (Christa) Highlander of Austin TX, six great nieces and two great nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son Jon Highlander in 1947.
She was the Director of Admissions for the College of Liberal Arts and Commerce for the University of Iowa for two years. She was co-owner of Home Accessory Business in Fresno CA. She was also involved with Commercial Radio in Goldsboro NC and Indianapolis IN. She graduated from Mabelle Scott Rancho School in Southern CA in 1939. She received her associate’s degree from Stephens College in Columbia MO and her Bachelors degree from the University of Iowa in 1942. She has lived in Iowa, Wisconsin, Hawaii, California and North Carolina since 1997. She was a member of the PEO Chapter B in Hendersonville NC. She volunteered for the American Red Cross and the Cancer Society. She was a member of the Ikebana International in Hawaii and Fresno. She was a member of the Columbus Presbyterian Church in Columbus NC.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday November 22, 2008 in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. David Parker will officiate. He was born September 23, 1947 in Peoria IL the son of Charles and Elsie Ancihux Paisley.
He is survived by two daughters Lynn (Bruce) Smolen of Crystal Lake, IL and Laura Paisley of Woodridge IL; one son Chris (Jill) Paisley of Mt. Prospect IL; one brother John Paisley of Abingdon IL and one sister Mary Paisley Downin of Galesburg IL; and five grandchildren.
He served in the Army during Vietnam War.
He was the director of Purchasing for Dick Blick Art Supply Company in Galesburg.
