She was born October 14, 1967 in Pekin, IL the daughter of Dale E. and Bonnie F. Engle Parkin, Sr.
She is survived by her mother, Bonnie F. Parkin of Galesburg; a grandmother, Geneva E. Parkin of Denver, CO; a special friend, Steve Marquis of Galesburg; three brothers, Dale E. Parkin Jr., William “Bill” D. (Shiela) Parkin, and Jeffrey S. (Karen) Parkin, all of Galesburg; a sister, Julie A. (Mike) Bell of Fulton, MO, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.
She worked as a telephone technician for Sprint for 12 years. She also worked for Marquis Communications for 13 years. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1986. Her wonderful smile and compassion for everyone will be sadly missed.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday January 30, 2009 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. M.J. Fitch will officiate. Mrs. Norma E. (Abel) Andrews, Abingdon Chapel

86, of 300 W. North St. Abingdon, died at 8:10 am Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
She was born on May 30, 1922 in Warren County, IL to Henry O. and Florence Mae Bennett Abel. She married Paul W. Pierce in 1946. She later married Donald F. Andrews in 1970 in Rushville, IL.
Norma is survived by her husband, Don; a daughter, Lynn Weaver of Canton, IL; a son, Stanley Pierce of Altona, IL; three granddaughters, Angela (and Scott) Miller, Megan and Holly Pierce; two great grandsons, Nathan and Caleb Miller; a sister, Linda (and Clinton) Hills of RR Galesburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert Abel, a sister Marilyn Rookaird, a daughter-in-law Candi Pierce and a nephew Terry Dean Abel.
Norma had lived in Abingdon area all her life. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1940. She was the former owner of the Maid-Rite in Abingdon and also later worked at the former Poland’s Grocery Store and then the Abingdon Vet Clinic. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Abingdon and the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary.
Norma was an avid quilter and enjoyed attending quilt shows with her sister. She also enjoyed going to yard sales.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the chapel.

Mr. Daniel Anthony Hall, Galesburg Chapel

He was born November 19, 1982 in Monmouth, Illinois, a son of T. Tom and Carol Elaine Hays Hall.
He is survived by his father and step mother, Tom (and Karen) Hall of Monmouth, mother, Carol Winbigler of Wataga, step father, Ron Winbigler of Oneida, Illinois, 3 brothers, Andy (and Stacey Valentin) Hall, Erik (and Lisa) Hall, and Ryan (and Allison Cole) Hall, a sister, Sara Hall (and Andy) Varner, a step brother, Ben Lyons, 4 step sisters, Samantha (and Josh) Redman, Sara (and Jim) Sloan, Nici Winbigler (and Mike) Jones, and Kelli Winbigler, a special sister, Suzi Millas, grandparents, Ray and Elaine Hays of Alexis, Pauline Winbigler of Monmouth, and Raymond and June Dilts, 7 nephews, Jacob Varner, Layne Hall, Wyatt Hall, Codie Winbigler, Slater Jones, Jacob Sloan, and Elliott Sloan, 4 nieces, Lillie Varner, Lexi Varner, Mallory Jones, and Peyton Lyons, and 4 special little ones, Mason Stone, and Codie, Nathan, and Kaitlyn Courtright. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred D. and Grace Hall, Aunt Grace Ann, a cousin Randy Millas, step grandfather, Lloyd Winbigler.
Daniel worked in farm operations. He also was a master mechanic and a skilled glass technician.
He graduated from ROWVA High School in 2001. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing with his nieces and nephews, and mud drags with his brothers, dad, and Uncle John.
Funeral will be 1 PM Saturday, January 24, 2009 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Ken Muck will officiate. Visitation will be 3 to 8 PM Friday at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial fund at a later date. Mr. Earl D. Danner, Galesburg Chapel

He was born December 30, 1934 in Astoria, Illinois, the son of Earl M. and Edna M. Smith Danner. He married Nancy Goodman on March 6, 1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives.
Also surviving are 2 daughters from previous marriages, Marna Justman of Des Moines, Iowa and Danise Taylor of Hanover, Illinois. He is also survived by 2 step sons, David (and Julie) Goodman of Creve Coeur, Illinois and Scott “Andy” (and Martha) Goodman of Galesburg, a step daughter, Carol Marshall of Galesburg, a brother, Oliver Danner of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 4 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Earl worked a variety of positions at the former Maytag Corporation, finishing his 40 year career there in the service department. He retired in 1996. He had lived in Galesburg since 1956 and attended Galesburg High School.
He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Monmouth VFW Post 2301 and the Abingdon American Legion Post 381.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service will be 11 AM Saturday, January 24, 2009 in East Linwood Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by Abingdon American Legion Post 381. Mr. Leland “Dale” Uhlmann, Galesburg Chapel

90, of 800 N. Market St., Knoxville, formerly of Newcomer Dr., Galesburg died at 12:45 AM Wednesday January 21, 2009 in Knox County Nursing Home.
He was born July 17, 1918 in Henderson County, IL, Bald Bluff Twp., the son of John P. and Ethel McBride Uhlmann. He married Isabel Gibb in Palmyra, Missouri. He later married Doris Quick in Abingdon, IL. He was preceded in death by them both.
He is survived by a brother, Leon (Alice) Uhlmann of Galesburg and a sister, June (Ray) Karzmiski of Manhattan, KS. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
He worked at Blue Bell Manufacturing in Abingdon for over 20 years. He also worked in food service at Knox College for 10 Years. He retired in 1981. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Abingdon.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 AM Saturday in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Lois C. Witherspoon, Galesburg Chapel

was born November 3, 1920 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of William Kornes Clowes and Selma Swanson Clowes. She was a graduate of New Kensington (PA) High School, the College of Wooster, Wooster, OH and received an M.A. degree from Presbyterian College of Christian Education at McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, IL. She was married for 50 years to the Rev. James C. Witherspoon, a Presbyterian Minister and Social Worker who preceded her in death in 1998. The Witherspoons retired and moved to Clearwater, FL in 1985 from Topeka, KS. In Topeka, they were members of the First Presbyterian Church for 27 years. In Clearwater, they joined Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church. In 2006, Mrs. Witherspoon left Peace Memorial Church after 21 years of membership to move to Charlevoix, MI to make her home with her son, John and his family. She became a member of the United Methodist Church of Charlevoix and made the acquaintance of many wonderful, caring people while there.
Lois Witherspoon was an Ordained Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church and served as Moderator of the Presbytery of Northern Kansas from 1978 – 1982. She served 6 years on the General Council, Synod of Mid-America, and was a Board Member of the Historical Foundation of the Presbyterian Church, Montreat, NC from 1984 – 1989 and Secretary to that Board for 5 of those 6 years. Before coming to Clearwater, Mrs. Witherspoon worked for the Menninger Foundation in Topeka, KS for 25 years as a Senior Administrative Secretary.
Mrs. Witherspoon was a member (and past Regent) of Caladesi Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; the United States Daughters of 1812; the John Donaldson, Jr. Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists; and Berkeley Plantation Chapter, Colonial Dames, XVII Century.
She is survived by one son, John David Witherspoon and daughter in-law, Sandra, three grandchildren, Sarah (Jeremy) Massey, Nathan D. Shawano, and John James Witherspoon, and four great-grandchildren, Jordin and Tyler Gellis; and Bailey and Alexia Massey.
Graveside service will be 12 noon Friday in Mount Vernon Cemetery, North Henderson, IL. The Rev. Maura McGrath Nagle will officiate. Mrs. Betty Jean Whitney, Abingdon Chapel

She was born on October 28, 1932 in Berwick Township, Warren County, IL to Basil Fred and Opal Eliza Ray Hoadley. She married William F. Whitney on February 2, 1951 at the Abingdon Christian Church. He survives.
Betty is also survived by her children, Sherry (and Pat) Bax of Kansas City, MO, David (and Donna) Whitney of Overland Park, KS, Wayne (and Debbie) Whitney of Houston, TX and Susan (and John) Edwards of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren; a sister, Sally Gray of Galesburg.
She was preceded in death by parents and a brother, Don Hoadley.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Abingdon Christian Church. Rev. Jerald Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.

Mrs. Marjory M. Reed, Galesburg Chapel

She was born June 13, 1918 in Biggsville, Illinois, the daughter of Chester and Vivian McGraw Stotts. She married Albert K. Reed, Sr. on March 6, 1937 in Oquawka, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2000.
She is survived by a son, A. Kenneth “Kenny” (and Joyce) Reed, Jr. of East Galesburg, 3 daughters, Darlene K. (and Marvin) Lannholm of Galesburg, Dianna M. (and Jim) Perry of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Judith L. (and Dave) McClay of Galesburg, 2 brothers, Charles Stotts of Rock Island, Illinois and Gene Stotts of Oquawka, Illinois, a sister, Dorothy Dixon of Rock Island, Illinois, 19 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Myrna Stotts and a great great granddaughter, Willow Jean McClay.
Marjorie was Assistant to the Dean at Western Illinois University in the 1930’s and helped the Dean with the writing of a book on Hawaii. She also worked at the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation, the former Ross Clinic, for Sears and Roebuck, and retired from the library department of Carl Sandburg College. She graduated from Biggsville High School and lived her entire life in Galesburg and surrounding areas.
Marjorie was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church and its Women’s Group. She wrote short stories for the Spoon River Anthology and was also a reading buddy at Nielson School.
Funeral will be 10 AM Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Jean Hembrough will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the chapel. Mr. Benjamin James Fritz, Galesburg Chapel

He was born April 8, 1989 in Galesburg, the son of Robert D. and Judith A. Hoag Fritz.
He is survived by his parents, Bob Fritz of East Peoria and Judy Burkhart of Wataga, 2 sisters, Hilary Fritz and Jessica Fritz, both of Wataga, his grandparents, Robert and Phyllis Fritz of Galesburg and Anna Marie Hoag of Wataga, uncles, Ken Johnson of Washington, DC, John Hoag of Monroe, MI, and Tim Mackey of Galesburg, and an aunt, Joyce Zuercher of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Howard Hoag and an aunt, Dee Ann Mackey.
Ben recently started working as a Carpenter’s Apprentice through the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 183 in East Peoria. He graduated from ROWVA High School in 2007.
Ben enjoyed 70’s and 80’s rock music and was learning to play the guitar. He had a quiet demeanor, yet a wickedly funny sense of humor. He liked to work with his hands, especially on his Fastback Mustang “Jenny”. He would do anything for his family and friends.
Funeral will be 1:30 PM Thursday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel. Chaplain Patrick Andresen will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 9 PM Wednesday at the chapel. Mr. Larry “Recap” Olen Osborne, Sr., Abingdon Chapel

He was born on December 16, 1941 in Cave in Rock, IL, a son of Roy Ivan and Lexi (Dixon) Osborne. He married Peggy Sue Tracy on September 15, 1967. He later married Christina Lynn Wilkins on August 12, 1971 at the Abingdon United Methodist Church. He then married Sherry Maxine Quinn on August 2, 1994 at the Lincoln Park Gazebo in Galesburg.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sherry; his sons, Larry (and Gretchen) Osborne, Jr. of Abingdon and Jim (and Kasey) Osborne of Knoxville; his stepchildren, Jason (and Tiffany) Quinn of Enfield, IL, Nathan (and Cassy) Jackson of McLeansboro, IL, Danielle Jackson and Shawn Jackson both of Galesburg; 7 grandchildren; two brothers, Gary Osborne, Sr. and Dale Osborne both of Carmi, IL; two sisters, Lanita Bartley and Loretta Castleberry both of Carmi, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Larry had lived in Galesburg area since 1964. He worked at Builders Supply/Gunther Construction.
He played lead guitar and enjoyed music very much. Larry also liked bowling and watching wrestling.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Gary Bane will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
