Mrs. Elizabeth Lyle Stickney McKoane, Galesburg Chapel

She was born July 2, 1920 in Galesburg, IL to Edward Simmons Stickney and Emily Lyle Stickney. She had one brother, Edward (Laddie) Stickney. She was happily married to William Wallace McKoane and has two children, John Stickney McKoane (and Erica) and Sally Lyle McKoane Dixon (and Robert) and one grandson, William Stickney Dixon.
After attending Knox College, she graduated from Connecticut College and then worked at Quaker Oats in Chicago. She was a long time resident of Park Ridge, IL and devoted her time to her church, family, friends, charity and helping others. She had a deep sense of civic duty and always looked for the bright side and humor in everyday life. She faced life’s hurdles with dignity and hope in the future. She gave thanks for love, laughter, family, and friends.
“Dust will return to dust, but the spirit, the personality, the wonderful something which keeps the individual himself and no other through careless childhood, joyous youth and sober manhood, is living still in the World of the Unseen. For this assurance we render thanks to the Father of Man and praise the Son who brought immortality to light.”

Mrs. Ruth Marie Tingley, Galesburg Chapel

She was born on March 6, 1936 in Galesburg to Raymond R. and Helen M. (Palmer) Sargeant. She married Robert R. Tingley on October 9, 1955 in Galesburg.
Ruth is survived by her children, Robert W. Tingley, Connie (and Zan) Carter, Cindy Tingley and Christine (and Mark) Robertson all of Galesburg; 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Sargeant of East Galesburg; two sisters, Sharon (and Bill) Jones in Florida and Marlene Lindner of Galesburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Bradley Tingley and a granddaughter, Tracy Johnson.
She had lived in the Galesburg area most of her life. She had worked in the dietary department at OSF St. Mary Medical Center. She enjoyed ceramic painting and taking care of her grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Thursday at the chapel.
The family would especially like to thank Dr. Whittle and staff and OSF St. Mary Medical Center and nurses for all the wonderful care Ruth received.

Mr. Andrew R. “Andy” Meldrum, Galesburg Chapel,

He was born October 3, 1923 in Galesburg to Charles and Isabella Fowlis Meldrum. He married Doris L. Davis May 16, 1941 in Palmyra, MO. She preceded him in death August 3, 1977. He later married Mearl Ann Serdahl August 20, 1978 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death March 13, 1992.
Surviving are 2 sons Mike (and Pat Lewis) Meldrum of Galesburg and Ed (and Janice) Meldrum of Jefferson City, MO, a daughter Becky Goethe of Galesburg, a brother John (and Jane) Meldrum of Davenport, IA, 6 grand children and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Dixie Meldrum in 1941 and a sister Jane Van Dell.
He was a mechanic for Burlington Truck Lines for many years before its closing. He retired from Butler Manufacturing Company as a welder. He was a WWII US Marine Veteran serving from 1942 to 1945. Andy was a life member of the American Legion Post #285 and a member of the Forty and Eight. He was active in the Galesburg Woodworking Club. He enjoyed the outdoors working with flowers and in the yard.
Funeral service will be 11:30 AM Wednesday February 25, 2009 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with the Rev. Tom Ek officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 6:30 PM Tuesday at the chapel. Mr. Kenneth E. Wilson, Galesburg Chapel

Kenny was born October 17, 1928 in Galesburg the son of Willard and Vera Snyder Wilson. He was raised in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1946.
He married Betty Holman on June 12, 1949.
Ken worked as sales manager for Wilson Paper Company for over 30 years and also at Brown Specialty in Galesburg. He retired in 1991 from Clark Food Service in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, 3 sons, Robert (and Alessandra) Wilson of Aurora, IL, Richard (and Jean) Wilson of Carterville, IL, and Ronald (and Susan) Wilson of San Diego, CA, and a daughter, Vicki (and Patrick) Trant of Galesburg.
Ken coached the Little League Indians when Bob, Rick, and Ron were young and his greatest pleasure was watching his grandchildren, Angela (and Kyle) Skinner of Pleasant Hill, IA, Todd (and Jill) Brown of East Peoria, IL, Erika (and Dane) Hanna of Starkville, MS, Tim (and Chelsea Pierson) Brown of Galesburg, Mandy (and Jeff) Rose of Carterville, IL, Chris Wilson and Rob Wilson, both of San Diego, CA, Kelly (and Jim) Sturgis of Galesburg, and Ryan Trant of Fort Hood, Texas grow into adults of whom he was extremely proud. He was a loving great grandfather to Makailee Brown, Kennedy Skinner, Parker Rose, and Bailey and Gavin Sturgis. He went to as many events as he could involving his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be 4:30 PM Wednesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Norma J. Chambers, Galesburg Chapel

She was born November 30, 1934 in Galesburg, Il. the daughter of Clifford C. and Alice M. Webster McKinley. She married Gene T. McMillan in 1953 and later married Charles F. Chambers in Galesburg on March 13, 1965.
Norma is survived by one daughter Judy McMillan of Westminister, Co., and her dog Swatzie. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother Fredrick C. McKinley.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1952.She worked for Doctor’s Cannon & Holland as a medical assistant for 27 years retiring in 1984. Norma later worked in the golf shop at Laurel Greens Golf Course for 10 years. She was the current President of the Galesburg Women’s Bowling Association and has been secretary/treasurer of various leagues for the past 25 years. She is also in the Galesburg Bowling Association Hall of Fame, and has been a member of the Youth Bowling League Board for 20 years. Norma enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and attending her high school class functions and reunions.
Cremation was accorded with a Memorial Service 3PM Wednesday February 25, 2009 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel with Rev M.J. Fitch officiating. There will be no visitation. Private burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Prairieland Animal Welfare Center.

Mrs. Waneta Kincade, Galesburg Chapel

She was born December 8, 1914 in Joplin, MO, the daughter of Cleve and Sarah Page Cummings. She married Clifford Kincade on April 5, 1942 in Trenton, MO. He survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Patricia (and Jon) Hall of Slidell, LA, 6 grandchildren, Stephanie (and Steve) Dembosky of East Moline, IL, Dane (and Mayumi) Hallberg of Clifton, NJ, Brad (and Sarah) Hallberg of West Lafayette, IN, Steven (and Marilyn) Cummings of Knoxville, IL, Christine (and William) Stevens of East Galesburg, IL, and Cindy Ash of Monmouth, IL, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Francesca Cummings of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Marjorie Cummings and 3 brothers.
Waneta was a waitress at the former Huddle Restaurant in Galesburg for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chillicothe. Waneta enjoyed cooking and playing pinochle. She was an avid bowler and bowled a perfect 300 game while on a women’s league in Chillicothe. She was also an election judge and a member of the VFW Auxiliary while living in Chillicothe.
Funeral will be 1:30 PM Monday, February 23, 2009 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Ted Mitchell will officiate. Visitation will be 12 noon to 1:30 PM Monday at the chapel. Mr. Earl D. Guiter, Galesburg Chapel

He was born May 3, 1926 in Berwick Township, Warren County, IL, the son of Clarence David and Minnie Mae Danner Guiter. He married Eddie Mae Cassel on May 3, 1949 in El Serrito, CA. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2008.
He is survived by a son, David E. (and Shirley) Guiter of Colchester, IL, 2 daughters, Karon L. (and Brian) Dally of Idabel, OK and Vickie L. (and Adrian) Dillin of Galesburg, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Edith Tinkham and Clara Tabb, both of Abingdon. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Cecil Henry Guiter and 3 sisters, Eleanor Courson, Evelyn Morrison, and Bessie Guiter.
Earl was a carman for the C.B. & Q. Railroad, later Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years. He retired in 1984.
Earl loved studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and working in his yard and garage. Earl liked helping people, especially his neighbors in the winter by snow blowing for them. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He served in the Unites States Army from July 27, 1944 to August 15, 1946 during World War II.
Cremation will be accorded. Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2009 in the Galesburg Kingdom Hall, 201 N. Linwood Road. Ted Dorward will officiate. She was born June 11, 1924 in Bernadotte, IL, the daughter of Grover and Willie Greene Martindale. She married Keith W. Cafferty on July 18, 1949 in Kalamazoo, MI. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2005.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Donna (and Larry) Wherley of Frankfort, IL and JoDel (and Ted) Nelson of Victoria, IL, a step daughter, Vickie (and Robert) Johnson of Peoria, IL, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a brother, Glade Martindale of Smithfield, IL, and a sister, Freda (and Joe) Gallien of Lewistown, IL. She was preceded in death by a brother and 2 sisters.
Leota was a telephone operator for 3 years in Lewistown for Bell Telephone Company before becoming a homemaker. She graduated from Ipava High School in 1942. She had lived in Galesburg since 1974.
Leota was a former member of the Knoxville Christian Church and was involved with numerous activities there. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Moose in Galesburg.
Funeral will be 11:00 AM Saturday February 21, 2009 in the Abingdon Christian Church. The Rev. Jerald Hill will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday at the church. Mr. Carl M. Bloomberg, Galesburg Chapel

He was born August 27, 1919 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Rose Rissi Bloomberg. He married Bernice M. Carlson on October 31, 1943 at the First Lutheran Church in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving are 2 daughters, Vicki (and Ronald) Macfarlane of Leesburg, Florida and Nancy (and Richard) Mann of Richmond, Virginia, a brother, Robert (and Darlyne) Bloomberg of Sedona, Arizona, a sister, Frances (and Clarence) Schar of St. Augustine, Florida, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lillian Sugarman.
Carl was the purchasing agent for the former Intra State Telephone Company for 30 years. He also worked for the Galesburg Downtown Merchant’s Association for 7 years. Carl owned and operated Plantland and also repaired clocks at his home for 50 years.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1937 and lived most of his life here. He was a member of First Lutheran Church since 1943, the Galesburg Lion’s Club since 1979, the Alpha Masonic Lodge, and the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Carl was co-founder of the Galesburg Railroad Museum and had served as its president. He was also involved with planning Railroad Days Celebrations. Carl was co-author of the book “57,000 Sunsets”, which is a book about the history of Galesburg.
Carl served in the United States Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945 and was stationed in the Central Pacific. He was awarded the American Defense Service Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star, four Overseas Service Bars, one Service Stripe, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Funeral will be 10 AM Monday, February 16, 2009 in First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Paul Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be 2 to 4 PM Sunday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or the Galesburg Railroad Museum. Mr. Francis L. “Mac” McCoy, Abingdon Chapel

He was born on October 6, 1934 in Blue Jacket, Oklahoma to John and Addie (Waugh) McCoy. He married Rebecca L. Hardine on June 14, 1975 in Versailles, Illinois.
Mac is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his children, Sue Z. (and Justin Frakes) Cameron of Avon, Illinois and Sara L. McCoy of Abingdon, Illinois; his grandchildren, Zahren Cameron, Macenzye Cameron, Chevey Cameron, Brodye Frakes, Sydnye Bellinger and Clayton Bellinger. He is also survived by brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
He was an Army Veteran. He worked at the Burlington Northern Railroad for 42 years last working as a boom truck operator before his retirement.
He had lived in St. Augustine since 1979 and prior to that had lived in London Mills. He was a volunteer fireman for the Abingdon Fire Protection District – St. Augustine Station. He also served on the St. Augustine Village Board.
Mac’s hobbies included gardening, hunting and fishing.
Cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Church of God of Prophecy Fellowship Center, corner of IL Route 41 and Martin St. in Abingdon. Mrs. Eleanor Landon and Rev. Warren Cummins will be the speakers followed by a flag presentation by the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of announcements for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Abingdon Food Pantry.
