She was born May 11, 1931 in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Julian and Margarita Rivas Leon. She married Pedro “Buff” Martinez on September 3, 1966 in Kewanee, IL. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1984.
She is survived by a son, Michael (and Judy) Leon, Galesburg, a daughter, Victoria (and Curtis) McMillon, Brooklyn Park, MN, 2 brothers, Richard Leon, Lansing, Michigan and Felimon (and Elsie) Leon, Kewanee, IL, 2 sisters, Consuelo Howell, Rio, IL and Olivia (and Peter) Lopez, East Moline, IL, and 2 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Martinez.
She was a seamstress last working for Carhartt Inc., Galesburg. She had lived in Galesburg since 1966. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1949. She attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg.
Funeral will be 10 AM Thursday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. The Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. There will be no visitation. Private family burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the family. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
