Mr. W. Gregory “Greg” Simpson, Galesburg Chapel

55, of 2725 Knox Rd. 500E, Rio, IL died at 9:54 AM Tuesday December 21, 2004 at his home.
He was born November 13, 1949 in Monmouth, IL the son of Walter G. and Shirley E. Merian Simpson. He married Susan E. Johnson in Cameron, IL on October 15, 1977. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Brad S. Simpson and Mark G. Simpson, both of Galesburg, IL, his mother, Shirley Simpson of Knoxville, IL, one brother, William J. (wife Rose) Simpson of Bloomington, IL, and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his father in 1997.
He served in the US Army from 1969 to 1975 in Vietnam, receiving the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.
He was a farmer in the Cameron and Rio areas his entire life. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1967 and attended Illinois State University and Carl Sandburg College. He was a member of the Rio Fire Department for 20 years. He was a member of the Warren County Farm Bureau and the Little John Conservation Club.
He was a member of the Coldbrook Christian Church.
Funeral will be 10 AM Monday December 27, 2004 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Becky Ingram will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday December 26, 2004 at the chapel. Burial will be in Mosher Cemetery in Warren County with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials can be made to the Family.
