Mrs. Nellie Lester, Galesburg Chapel

,85 formerly of 290 Isle Royale Rd., Galesburg and 980 Janet Drive, Knoxville, died at 7:20 PM Wednesday January 4, 2005 in the Care Center of Abingdon.
She was born February 9, 1920 in Bromley Kent England the daughter of John and Elizabeth Arnold Kennedy. She married Clarence Everett Lester on December 30, 1944. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1977.
She is survived by three sons, John M. (wife Barb) Lester of Davenport, IA, Daniel B. (wife Laura) Lester of Galesburg, IL, and Anthony “Tony” Lester of North Henderson, IL, five daughters, Teresa “Terri” A. Schwarz of Freeport, IL, Sharon E. (husband Steve) Apsey of Galesburg, IL, Mary Zielke of Galesburg, IL, Patricia J. (husband Gary) Tucker of Galesburg, IL and Geraldine K. (husband Tim) Harris of St. Marys, GA, twenty-three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
She served as a Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force.
She worked as a secretary and officer for the Bank of Galesburg and later for the First Farmers National Bank of Knoxville. She graduated from Edinburgh College in England. She was a member of the National Order of Forresters. She volunteered for OSF St. Mary Medical Center. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church and the Church of England. She was a member of the Corpus Christi Altar & Rosary Society.
Cremation will be accorded. Memorial services will be 10 AM Saturday January 14, 2006 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Revs. Kirk Kendall and William Miller will officiate. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8 PM Friday January 13, 2006 at the chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimers Disease Association.
