Mr. John W. Adams, Galesburg Chapel

79, Fargo, ND, formerly of 2946 Parkway Court, Galesburg, IL, died at 3 PM Saturday, August 26, 2006 in Merit Care Medical Center, Fargo.
He was born May 13, 1927 in Galesburg, the son of Harry W. and Adah Peterson Adams. He married Shirley Hatch on June 5, 1949 in Oneida, IL. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2005.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Sally (and Jerry) Haugen, Fargo and Teresa (and Wayne) Crozat, New Orleans, LA, a sister, Hester Rask, London Mills, IL, 3 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters.
He was the manager of Butler Credit Union in Galesburg for 38 years. He retired in 1985.
He lived in Oneida for 18 years, then in Galesburg for most of his life before moving to Fargo in October of 2005. He graduated from Oneida High School in 1945. He attended the University of Illinois for 3 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285, both in Galesburg. He was also a member of the Credit Union Movement and held the second highest position in the country.
He served in the United States Navy for 21 months during WWII, where he was a Pharmacist Mate First Class.
Funeral will be 11 AM Thursday, August 31, 2006 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. David B. Parker will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 AM Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials can be made to the Prairieland Animal Welfare Center.
