Mr. Thomas Martin Dutton, Galesburg Chapel

66, 147 N. Prairie St., Galesburg, died at 5:10 PM Monday, March 17, 2008 at home.
He was born August 28, 1941 in Tompkins Township, IL, the son of Carl Lee and Jessie May Moore Dutton. He married Cora Marie Frisby. She preceded him in death. He married Jackie Mixon on July 24, 2004 in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Mixon Dutton of Galesburg, Evelyn Willson, who raised him, of Galesburg, 3 sons, Christopher M. (and Stacy) Dutton of Davenport, IA, Pierre Lawton of Wataga, IL, and Tyrail R. Mixon of Galesburg, 6 daughters, Marcia Marie Jackson of Galesburg, Vicky Annette Dutton of Omaha, NE, Lavina Lynn Dutton of Omaha, Michele Dutton of Broken Arrow, OK, Lisa Dutton of Broken Arrow, and Carrie Brewer of Galesburg, 3 brothers, Frank Dutton of Galesburg, Donnie Dutton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and David (and Christine) Denisar of Galesburg, a sister, Alvarie (and Donny) Motz of Galesburg, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Billy Dutton and Joe Dutton, and a sister, Marie Frances Dutton.
Thomas worked for Tom Bullis for 17 years as a painter and in maintenance. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and classic cars and trucks.
Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be 1 to 3 PM Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Hospital for Children’s Cancer Research. Online condolences may be made at

  2. All of us at Hi-Lo have missed seeing Tom for the past 6 weeks or so, since he became too sick to go out. His visits to Hi-Lo always made my day! Tom was a good man, and it was obvious to me that he worked hard his entire life. I still laugh about my first impression of him…he wanted to come across as a tough old guy, but he was a teddy bear at heart! I loved Tom so much. Jackie, God bless you. I’m sure the end was rough for you. My heart and prayers go out to Tom’s family.
