She was born May 19, 1914 in Galesburg, IL to Ward and Ruth (Peterson) Stephens. She married Harley L. Griffith in Galesburg IL on October 26, 1935. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1997.
Surviving is one son Walter E. (and Debbie) Griffith of Marietta, GA, a daughter, Mrs. John (Karen) Parker of Bloomington, IL, a half brother, Howard Stephens of Peoria, IL, a sister, Helen Wells of East Peoria, IL, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by his parents, husband, and one brother.
She worked at Admiral Maytag Corporation for 27 years, retiring in 1977. She was a graduate of Galesburg High School and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg, IL.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Monday December 2, 2002 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Tom Larsen officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday December 1, 2002 at the Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
