Mr. Jack L. Ball, Galesburg Chapel

Jack was born February 2, 1935 in Macomb, Ill., the son of Ralph L. and Jessie Fugate Ball. He married M. Karlean Chance on December 29, 1961 in Carthage, Ill.
He is survived by his wife, Karlean, a son, Michael J. (and Peggy) Ball of Davenport, Iowa, a daughter, Melanie Ball of Phoenix, Ariz., two grandsons, Ian Walker and Jacob Ball, two step granddaughters, Ashley and Lizzie Wilkens, and a great granddaughter, Emma. He is preceded in death by his parents and his best friend, Missy B.
Jack was raised in Macomb and graduated from Macomb High School in 1953. He moved to Galesburg in 1962 and was a salesman for Lakis Ford for several years and also several years for Yemm Chevrolet. He retired in 1997. After his retirement, he worked for Option Care.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Galesburg. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball, YMCA basketball and YMCA junior and senior hardball. He was also a member of a bowling league.
Jack served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960.
Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2010 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to establish a trust fund for his grandsons. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
