Mr. Roger “Butch” Lawson, Abingdon Chapel
71, of Abingdon died at 11:15 am Sunday, December 19, 2010 at his home.
He was born on August 18, 1939 in Abingdon, the son of Doris Lawson. He was raised by his granddad, Alex Lawson.
Butch is survived by two sons, Jeff (and Nancy) Lawson and daughters Christy & Alex of Collierville, Tenn. and Scott (and Beth) Lawson and sons Saxxon, Jake and Caleb of Decatur, Ill.; one brother, Danny (and Linda) McCracken of Carthage, Ill.; one sister, Linda (and Roger) Clark of Plymouth, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Gary McCracken.
He had lived in Abingdon most of his life. He worked at the Abingdon Pottery. His hobbies included being in the outdoors and hotrods. He was a member of the Abingdon Road Knights.
Cremation was accorded. A celebration of his life will begin at 3:00 pm Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Victory, 201 S. Main St. in Abingdon. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

I have known Butch most of my life. I enjoyed visits with him.
