Mr. George G. Boyd

78 of 1702 Brown Ave. Galesburg IL died 3:25 PM Thursday December 26, 2002 at his home.
He was born May 7, 1924 in Bushnell, IL the son of Harold E. and Lottie Clark Boyd. He married Maybelle L. Hayes on May 7, 1950 in Galesburg IL. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters Mrs. Jamie (Christine) Boone of Roscoe IL and Lisa Boyd of Galesburg IL, three brothers Howard “Sam” Boyd of Galesburg IL, Vincil “Toot” Boyd and Max Boyd both of Avon, IL, three sisters Mrs. Wes (Barbara) Paul of Pekin IL, Mrs. Newt (Betty) Howard of Bushnell, IL and Mrs. Ernie (Phyllis) Repp of Avon IL, two granddaughters Andrea and Shauna Boone of Rockford IL and one uncle Olin Clark of Rushville IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
He served in the Army Airforce from 1943-1945 stationed mostly in India. He attained the rank of Corporal.
He worked at Jennings Dairy and the Rialto Theatre in Bushnell, IL. He later worked for Briggs Manufacturing in Abingdon IL for 43 years as a sprayer, retiring in May of 1989. He graduated from Bushnell High School in 1943.
He was an avid hunter and reader. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the Ducks Unlimited. He was a member of the Abingdon Pottery Collectors Club. He was a member of the Ex-China Burma India’ers and a member of Us Too (Cancer support group)
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Thursday January 2, 2003 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Larsen officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Monday December 30, 2002 at the Chapel. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285.
