Mr. Carl W. Walker

90, of 311 E. Simmons St., Galesburg, IL died at 2:45 PM Tuesday, December 31, 2002 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born November 9, 1912 in Rapatee, IL to Charles G. and Edith (Pumyea) Walker. He married Carol Mhoon in Knoxville, IL. He then married Hazel Brown Engman. She preceded him in death in 1985. He then married Ozelma Lafern Tedrick in Galesburg on July 10, 1986. She preceded him in death on February 23, 1999.
He is survived by two daughters, Susie (and James) Adams of Creve Coeur, IL and Mary E. (and Ralph) Wilt of Victoria, IL, a special friend whom cared for him, Joanne Hewitt of Galesburg, IL, 13 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Brockway in 1985.
He worked as a whiskey blender for Hiram Walker for 20 years. He then was a building supervisor for Carl Sandburg College for 10 years, retiring in the 1980’s. He had lived most of his life in Galesburg. He was a 1928 graduate from the Maquon-Gilson High School. He was of Methodist faith. He served in the United States Army.
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Saturday January 4, 2003 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM Saturday at the Chapel. Burial will be in Maquon Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
