age 84, of Oldsmar, Florida and formerly of Abingdon, died Wednesday morning, April 18, 2012 at her home.
She was born on March 11, 1928 in Fairview, Illinois the daughter of Beulah Thurman. She married Raymond “Ray” C. Jones on March 28, 1946 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. He preceded her in death February 21, 2005. She was also preceded in death by one son, Michael G. Jones.
Dona is survived by two sons, Ivan L. (and Janice ) Jones of Bell Buckle, Tennessee, Raymond C. “RC” (and Aimee) Jones, Jr. of Toulon, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Jayne Jones of Abingdon; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Robertson of Geneseo, Charlotte Sensabaugh of Mission, Texas and Carole Morby of Aledo; one brother, Jerry Wilson of Yates City and several nieces and nephews.
She had lived in Abingdon most of her life and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1947. She and her husband owned and operated the former Ray’s Service Station in Abingdon for 25 years. While living in Abingdon, she was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She had lived at Gull Aire Village in Oldsmar, Florida since 1995. She was also a member of the Abingdon Pottery Collector’s Club.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service to commit her ashes in the Abingdon Cemetery will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 7, 2012. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with local arrangements.
