We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Kelly’s friends and family. Kelly was in the same class as our son, Jim Pugh. He played summer baseball with him and Keith was the coach of their team. We will always remember Kelly as a fine catcher. He rode to many a game with us. Today we recall, with fondness, one particular incident following a game. It was an extremely hot, humid and miserable day. Kelly’s catcher’s gear made it even worse for him. Following the game the players lined up on the field to slap hands and congratulate each other. As they went through the line a player from the opposing team spit on Kelly’s hand. It took our entire team and I think a couple of coaches to contain Kelly. That kid had no idea who he was dealing with. Of all people… Kelly Sloan was not the one you wanted to spit on, especially after a hot and grueling game. May your memories help ease your pain.
I was a classmate with Kelly at Avon High School. I will always remember his laughter. He was constantly making people laugh and fooling around in school. I last saw him in 2006 at a garage sale at Little Swan. He hadn’t changed a bit. He was still laughing and a very nice guy. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I agree I wouldn’t want to make Kelly mad in High School. He did have a very sweet side though. He would help anyone out that needed it (especially the girls)
I am so sorry to hear of Kelly’s passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. I was a classmate of Kelly’s from Avon. Kelly may have seemed intimidating to some, but he was a sweet, lovable guy who would do anything for a friend. I’m proud to have been one of them. I will always remember him calling me “Sullivan”–never Susann–and flashing that big smile. May he rest in peace.
