Mrs. Anita B. White, Abingdon Chapel

age 82 of Abingdon died at 5:25 pm Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.
She was born on August 14, 1930 in Hermon, the daughter of Seaton and M. Blanche (Stegall) Moon. She married John F. White on June 19, 1954 at Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Jillian Lumberry, an infant brother, and one adult brother, Martin Moon.
Anita is survived by two daughters, Mary (Scott) Brownfield and Gerry (Kelvin) Lumberry; one son, Robert P. White and six grandchildren, Tara White, Brenton Brownfield, Tristan Lumberry, Hayley Brownfield, Alicia Lumberry and Chandler Lumberry; two brothers, Seaton (Betty) Moon and Louis Moon; one sister, Alice (Paul) Sharp; and nieces and nephews.
She attended local schools and graduated from Illinois State Normal University. She was a school teacher and librarian for almost 60 years. Her passions were her family, children and grandchildren. She loved teaching, working her garden and books. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon. Father William Miller I.C. will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel followed by the praying of the Rosary.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed talking to your mother. She was one of of a kind who would chew you out when you needed it, but would also lend you an ear when you needed to talk. She will be missed by many.
