Mr. William “Ray” Dunn, Galesburg Chapel
91, of 840 S. Farnham St., Galesburg, IL died at 8:17 PM Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, IL.
He was born on October 31, 1912 in Farmington, IL to Shellby and Emma Glasock Dunn. He married Helen Young on August 7, 1955 in Coldbrook, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons; Clifford (and Mary) Dunn, Steve (and Jean) Dunn and Rex Dunn, all of Oquawka, IL; a sister-in-law; Louise Dunn of Galesburg, IL; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He was a teacher in Astoria, IL, Biggsville, IL and Galesburg, IL for 40 years, retiring in 1975. He was the first administrator of the Galesburg area vocational school. He was a 1938 Farmington High graduate and received his BS and MS degrees from University of Illinois of Urbana-Champaign. He was a member of the Coldbrook Christian Church, the Galesburg Kiwanis Club, A. Lincoln Lodge in Galesburg, IL and was past state president of Illinois vocational agriculture teachers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 26, 2004 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Becky Ingram officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, January 25, 2004 at the Chapel. Burial will be in Mosher Cemetery, Warren County, IL. Memorials can be made to Community Hospice of America or the Coldbrook Christian Church.
