Janis E. Smith

Janis E. Smith, 82, of Galesburg, died at 12:40 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2017, at home surrounded by family.
She was born September 25, 1935, in Galesburg, the daughter of Russell and Alice (McPherrin) Swigert. She married William Jamison on December 19, 1953, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death July 2, 1963. She later married Calvin Smith on November 1, 1964, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death February 24, 2007.
She is survived by a son, Dale (Christine) Jamison of Carlsbad, New Mexico; two daughters, Kelly Jamison and Kay (Jim) Richards both of Galesburg; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Elliott of Peoria. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Dale Swigert.
Janis graduated from Knoxville High School in 1953. She lived in Galesburg her whole life. She was a hostess at Seminary Estates for 10 years. Janis was a member of Calvary Assembly of God. She was an animal lover, always concerned about and helping animals. She also enjoyed photography and genealogy

Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 11:00 am Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Guardian Angels Humane Society.
