Christy J. Millen

Christy Jennifer (Cook) Mesar Millen, 53, passed away on April 23, 2024.

Christy was born on October 7, 1970, in Kansas City, Missouri to her loving parents, mother, Carolyn Jean (Morrissey) Cook, who preceded her in death on March 28, 1983, and father, Richard C. Cook.

She married Richard Alexander Mesar, Jr. on August 20, 1993.  Together, they had one beloved son, Richard (Richie) Alexander Mesar, III.  She also leaves behind her sister Cari Cook Pahoundis, nieces, Carolyn Garrison and Betty Cook-Pahoundis, second husband, Roy A. Millen, whom she wed on June 13, 2009, and her adoptive mother, Kathleen L. (Stanfield) Cook.

Christy was full of life and loved to laugh and spend precious time with her friends and family.  Her advice to everyone was to “never stop moving, that is the key to life” and to always remember to “Absorb!” the beauty of the world around you. She graduated from the University of Central Missouri (formerly CMSU), with degrees in Broadcasting & Film and Criminal Justice. She went on to an award-winning 27-year career as a Television Producer at KMOS PBS. She was active in the Warrensburg Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and loved researching her family tree. She was also the Den Leader of her son’s Cub Scout Den and was honored to support her son on his journey to achieving Eagle Scout in Boy Scout Troops 673 and 404.  She also served on the board of WILS - West Central Independent Living Solutions in Warrensburg.

Christy’s life exemplified a profound love of family, a strength of faith, and a generous and joyful spirit that welcomed all.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 29, from 1-2 p.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West, 1070 West Fremont St., Galesburg, Illinois, with a funeral service taking place at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2040 US-150, Galesburg, Illinois.
