Georgetta “George” M. Ross, 63 of Galesburg, passed away at 5:27 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2019 at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center emergency room in Galesburg.
She was born May 15, 1956 in Galesburg, the daughter of George “Pike” and Maryetta (Gibson) Ross. They preceded her in death along with her stepfather, Robert C. “Little Swede” Anderson.
Georgetta is survived by one sister, Pam (and Tony) Allen of Abingdon; one nephew, Anthony Allen of Abingdon and one niece Tara Johnson of the state of Ohio; two stepbrothers, Bobby (and Wilma) Anderson of Bushnell and C. G. “Chip” Anderson of Bushnell and their families; an aunt, Judy Anderson and an uncle, Loren Tessier.
She grew up in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1974. She graduated from the Carl Sandburg Nursing Program. She worked as a LPN at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg for over 25 years. She enjoyed watching game shows on TV, loved drag racing and demo derbys and traveling. Her goal was to travel to every state and she almost accomplished it.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Danny Hunt will officiate. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
