Maudie I. (Morss) Roberts

Graveside ash committal services for Maudie and George Roberts will be held at 10 a.m Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Abingdon Cemetery.

Maudie I. (Morss) Roberts, 94 of Galesburg, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.  Cremation was accorded.  George M. Roberts, 84, passed away at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.  Cremation was accorded.

Maudie was born May 22, 1924 in Rapatee, the daughter of Frank H. and Edith H. (Halsey) Morss.  She married George M. Roberts on March 20, 1943 in Kahoka, Missouri

Maudie is survived by her children, Sharon Roberts Kinzer of Galesburg, Sandra (Stan) Czachowski of Davenport, Iowa and George L. (and Pam Wiley) Roberts of Abingdon; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Morss of Galesburg; one sister, Delores Morss of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Carol Dixon, two sons-in-laws, Kenny Dixon and Gene Watkins, one great-grandson, one brother and two sisters.

She lived in the Maquon area prior to moving to Galesburg in 1966.  She worked at the former Abingdon Blue Bell and later at the former Gale Products in Galesburg, where she retired from in 1966.  She was of the Christian faith.  Her hobbies included crocheting, camping, fishing and traveling.  She enjoyed spending time with her family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremations Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
