Miss Sara S. Bloomgren

Sara S. Bloomgren, 41, of Galesburg, died at 9:19 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at home.

She was born August 10, 1976, in Newport News, Virginia, the daughter of Harold D. and Arlene (Fields) Bloomgren.

She is survived by her parents, Harold and Arlene of Galesburg; brother, John (Tori) Bloomgren of Wataga, Illinois; sister, Katie Doss of Galesburg; nephews, Jesse, Richie (Katie), Colby and Travis; nieces, Alicia and Marisa; great nephew, Braeden; a great niece, Raylynn; aunts; uncles; cousins; her lifetime companion, Kelly Davis of Galesburg and her family, Marilyn (Steve) Messman of Huntertown, Indiana, Ralph Davis of Monmouth, Patrick (Tina) Davis of Kirkwood, Illinois, Vicki (Ronda Pinson) Todd-Feehan of Monmouth, nieces and nephews at heart; and her dear friend, Tena Burgess.

She was born in Newport News, Virginia and lived in West Virginia until she was five years old. When she first moved to Illinois she had a deep Virginia accent, of which she was very proud of. She graduated from Monmouth High School and attended Carl Sandburg College. In high school Sara, went to State competition for shot put in 1994.

Sara had worked at Maytag, at Casey’s in Wataga and Galesburg, at Beck’s Oil, and at the Shell Station.  She also had worked for Target, ShopKo and several Quick Stops in the area. Most recently, she worked as a guard for Guardsmark and a site supervisor for Renzenberger.  Sara loved people and never met a stranger. She enjoyed fishing and camping and attending concerts. She had volunteered for Special Olympics in Monmouth. Sara loved animals and had been a rescue mom and a pet sitter.

She was a Christian and believed deeply in God. She has attended several different churches. 

Cremation will be accorded.  Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Faith United Methodist Church. Rev. Norman Mendell will officiate. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church or to the Guardian Angels Humane Society.  Burial will be in Warren County Hope Cemetery at a later date.
