Mr. Bruce R. McCall, 73 of Abingdon, passed away at 10:58 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center emergency room.
He was born January 14, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of John and Susan Rowe McCall. He married Carol S. Simpson on May 6, 2012 in Abingdon.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Carol; three stepsons, Terry (Beverly) Harrison, Jeffery Harrison and Damon Harrison all of Galesburg; one stepdaughter, Crystal (Jeff) Howard of Cary; nine step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bruce has lived in Abingdon the past 30 years. He worked in janitorial/maintenance jobs. He was of the Methodist faith. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed visiting with people everywhere. He liked scratch off lottery tickets and was very lucky at winning. He enjoyed taking road trips with Carol and their dog Homer. He also loved to ride around Abingdon very slowly in his truck to see what might be going on. He would do anything for anyone.
Cremation will be accorded. To celebrate his life, a gathering in time of food and fellowship will be held beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Church of God of Prophecy, 207 N. Washington St. in Abingdon. Military rites by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 will be at 6 p.m. at the church. His favorite undertaker, Dennis Landon, of Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting Carol with arrangements.
