Mr. Carlus E. Connour

Mr. Carlus E. Connour, 90, formerly of Galesburg died at 9:37 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2018 in his home.

Carlus was born in Jacksonville, Illinois on September 13, 1928 to Mr Vessie and Cora E. (Luallen) Connour. He married Linda Anderson in Galesburg on October 12, 1962. She preceded him in death January 22, 1999.

He is survived by his two sons Dan R. Connour and Bradley E. Connour both of Galesburg, and one sister Carol Wheeler of Missouri. Carlus is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister and five brothers. 

Carlus and his family moved to the area in 1943. He was educated at Gilson High School and graduated in 1945. After high school, Carlus enlisted into the U.S. Air Force where he served for four years as an Airman 1st Class—two years in the lower 48 states and two years in Alaska. He worked for Gates Rubber Company for over 27 years before retiring in the early spring of 1991.

 Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  Rev. Jeffery Goard of Galva Christian Church will officiate. VFW, American Legion, AmVet Honor Guard will be serving military rites.  Memorials may be made to the Galva Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
