Mr. Charles Victor “Vic” Shannon, 67, of Galesburg, Illinois died 3:45 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at OSF St. Francis, Peoria, Illinois.
He was born June 26, 1951 in Brookport, Illinois to Charles M. “Scooter” and Althea (Ford) Shannon. He married Lucy Mae Wilson in Galesburg.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph (and Alicia) Wilson of Galesburg and Charles (and Ashley Thomas) Shannon of Davenport, Iowa, one daughter, Danielle Shannon of Galesburg, four sisters, Maria Hawthorne of Newton, Iowa, Phyllis Graham of Galesburg, Murley Moore of Chicago, Illinois, and Dana (and Thomas) Redmond of Chicago, Illinois, and nine grandchildren, Talia, Brooklyn, Austin, Marnita, Parker, Kyndal, Jaxson, Autumn, and Jonah. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Evone Shannon, Pat McCutcheon, and Jackie Carter and a niece, Marnita Bynum.
Vic graduated from Galesburg High School and later Lincoln Community College, Lincoln, Illinois. He served in the United States Army. He worked for National Seal Incorporated in Galesburg for several years and then Holmes Industries in Galesburg. He attended Allen Chapel Church in Galesburg. Vic loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the chapel. Deacon Virgil T. Sibley will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral service. A private committal service will be at a later date in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
