Mr. Clifford "Buddy" Thurman II Obituary

Clifford E. “Buddy” Thurman II, 56 of Knoxville, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center emergency room in Galesburg. 

He was born October 24, 1962 in Galesburg, the son of Clifford and Mary (Woolem) Thurman I.  He married Kimberly Claeys on June 15, 2002.

Buddy is survived by his son, Clifford E. “Trey” Thurman III of East Galesburg; his step-kids, Lacey and Colby; and his step-grandkid, Caleb; one brother, Jim McGrew of rural Gilson; and nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Connie Wilson and one sister-in-law, Jackie McGrew.

He grew up in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School.  He currently worked as a truck driver for Hein Construction in Galesburg.  His hobbies included hunting, riding motorcycles and 4-wheelers, and watching NASCAR, especially #48.  Buddy was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.  He enjoyed spending time with Trey and Caleb.  He loved his cats, dogs and rabbits.  He was a member of ABATE.  Buddy had a kind heart and would stop and help anyone having trouble on the road.

Cremation will be accorded.  To celebrate his life, the family will receive friends from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Abingdon American Legion.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors & Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
