Daniel Lee Morehead, 60, of Galesburg, died at 1:53 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2019, at home.
He was born May 12, 1958, in Galesburg, the son of Ronald Charles and Marilyn Grace (Dowell) Morehead.
He is survived by his daughter, Danielle (Christopher) Curran of Woodridge, Illinois; two granddaughters, Kendyl and Peyton Curran; two brothers, Mike (Shawna) Morehead of Galesburg and Richard Morehead of Colorado; three sisters, Rhonda (Ed) Markert in Arizona, Chris Ewing of Springfield, Illinois, and Sheri Morehead of Colorado. Also surviving are his stepmother, Sandra Morehead of Colorado, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, including his cousin and best friend, Kevin (Richanda) Peters of Monmouth. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dan was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1976. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union. He enjoyed racing motorcycles, NASCAR, and camping and fishing at the Mississippi River. Dan was an accomplished woodworker. He loved being a “Grand Dude” to his granddaughters.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of his life will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 1302 Coldbrook Road, Monmouth, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
