Mr. Eric Kilpatrick, 59, of Galesburg died Monday, April 22, 2019 at home surrounded by loved ones.
Eric was born May 12, 1959 in Galesburg to Forrest S. and Anna M. (Fisher) Kilpatrick. He married Rae Cudd June 7, 1991 and although they later divorced, they remained great friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Raelynne Kilpatrick of Galesburg, stepson Jamie (Jenny) Cudd of Abingdon, two stepdaughters Amy (Matt) Hendricks of Galesburg and Michelle (Tom) Lytle of Minnesota; and brother Forrest D. Kilpatrick of Galesburg. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and his grandpets Marvel and Luna.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara Loyd, brother-in-law John Loyd, and sister-in-law Donna Kilpatrick.
Eric was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1977. Eric then attended Carl Sandburg College and eventually transferred to Western Illinois University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting and Communications. Eric began interning at local radio stations while in college and after graduation went on to host as a DJ for FM 95 and WAIK for many years. He then worked at Farmland in cold packing for 17 years. After retirement he enjoyed looking after his grandson, Caleb. Eric was of Christian faith, loved to watch the Food Network channel and was a dedicated Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He loved listening to talk radio—he had WGN on speed dial. He was full of laughs and good humor.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made out to The American Cancer Society.
