Mr. Harold R. Graf

Harold R. Graf, 87, of Galesburg, formerly of Abingdon went to his heavenly home at 7:54 am Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.

He was born January 3, 1931 in Wyoming, Illinois the son of Rudolph and Anna Beal Graf. He married Pauline E. Scott on January 31, 1961 in Rock Island, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2011.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Harold Graf, Jr. and Charles Graf, one brother, Bud and two sisters, Evelyn and Elouise.

Harold is survived by one son, David (and Cindy) Graf of Abingdon; one daughter, Kay (and Bill) Ruhl of Abingdon; four grandchildren, Josh Graf (and fiancée, Maria Varga), Rachel (and Charles) Cotton and Hannah Ruhl and Seth (and Beth) Ruhl; one great-grandson, Weston Ruhl; and one brother, Donald Graf of Davenport, Iowa.

He moved to Galesburg in 1969, where he worked as the produce manager for Eagle’s Grocery Store for 25 years, retiring in 1993. He moved to Abingdon in 1995 and later worked part-time at Hi-Lo Grocery in Abingdon.  He had attended the Canton Calvary Baptist Church and the Geneseo First Baptist Church.  His hobbies included any do-it-yourself projects, yard work and he enjoyed painting houses and barns.  He was an avid Boston Red Sox baseball fan.  But most of all, he loved going to church and listening to gospel music.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, July 6, 2018 in Abingdon Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Ogle will officiate. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Thursday, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg.
