Mr. James Marshall Obituary

Mr. James W. “Jimmy” Marshall, 70, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 8:05 pm Monday, June 25, 2018 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital, Peoria, Illinois.

He was born September 9, 1947 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of James William and Thelma Marie Pate Marshall. He married Mary Sue Bulson on February 25, 1967 in Wataga, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary of Galesburg; his two daughters, Tara Marshall of Alexis, Illinois and Mona (Bradley) Florian of Harwinton, Connecticut; his brother, David (Vonna) of Wataga; three sisters, Connie Knott of Wataga and Roxanne (Chuck) Guss of Aledo, Illinois and Joyce Setta of Sacramento, California; 10 grandchildren and his mother-in-law, Dora Bulson of Galesburg. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rodney and Billy.

Jimmy was the founder of Jimmy’s Pizza in Wataga in 1983, he continued to operate Jimmy’s for several years. He was a carpenter by trade and managed condominiums in Florida. Jimmy was a member of the Elks Lodge #894 and the Rio Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Northwoods Community Church. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Chicago Bears fan. Jimmy loved watching baseball and playing golf, and passed his love of sports to his grandson, Egan. All of his grandchildren looked forward to their visit to Florida, the boat rides, fishing and time spent with grandpa. He was an outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed hunting. Jimmy loved his family and friends, he loved visiting, and telling stories over a beer.

A Memorial Visitation is scheduled for 4:00-7:00 pm Friday, June 29, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services. Cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Jimmy’s life will be Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Elks Lodge #894. A private graveside service will be held at a later date Wataga Cemetery.
