Mr. John Kenney Obituary

John H. Kenney, 78, of Oquawka, died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at home.

He was born November 1, 1939, in Galesburg, the son of Howard C. and Irene K. (Nichols) Kenney. He married Patricia L. Sullivan on February 17, 1962 in Abingdon.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia; two daughters, Page P. Dyson of Oquawka and Stacy K. Thompson of Galesburg; five grandchildren, John Reed and Samantha Reed, both of Texas, Ty Johnson, Sabrina Johnson, and Blaine T. Mullhatten, all of Galesburg; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judith I. McMullin.

John worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 39 years, retiring May 1, 1996. He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1957.

As per his wishes, cremation will be accorded. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
