Mr. Joseph S. Vacca

Joseph S. Vacca, 66, of Galesburg, peacefully went to join his wife in heaven at 12:58 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at home.

He was born May 7, 1951, in Galesburg, the son of Dominick and Mary (Turney) Vacca.  He married the love of his life, Sally J. Buck, on October 26, 1974 in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death August 22, 2009.

He is survived by his children, Mary (Steve) Powell, Danielle (Jason) Peterson, Stacey Fowler, Richard Boynton, John Anderson, and David Fowler, all of Galesburg; a brother, John Vacca of Galesburg; a sister, Judy Bidasio of Olgelsby, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Joshua, whom he helped raise, Kalip, Meghan, Miranda, Kelsey, Mateo, Cameron, Johanna, Caleb, and Riley; and three great grandchildren, Dylan, Lexi, and Brenna.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his loving daughter, Paula Boynton.

Joe co-owned and operated the Silver Front Tavern in Galesburg.  He later worked at Walmart and Derby Industries.

Joe was known as the best pool player around, he enjoyed playing in pool leagues and tournaments.  He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.  He will be missed by all that knew him.

Cremation will be accorded.  Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Westfall Cemetery with Rev.
