Kenton K. Priebe “Mouse” 1957 - 2018
Kenton Keith Priebe, 60, of Gilson died on Monday, January 29, 2018.
Kent was born on March 12, 1957, in Peoria, the son of Johnny B. and Jacqueline L. (McClain) Priebe. He married Christine Cottrell on May 30, 1987, in Maquon.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Lisa) Priebe of Des Moines, Iowa; his mother, Jackie of Maquon; a brother, J.C. Priebe of Delong; a sister, Linda (Deke) Norville of Maquon; grandchildren, Michael Priebe, Desiree Priebe, George Kick, Dylan Kick; great grandchildren, Liam Kick and Faith Kick; mother-in-law, Ruby Cottrell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vickie and Pete Palmer, Dee and Steve Tozer, and Joe Cottrell; God daughter, Candyce (Leadbetter) Orwig; and several nieces and nephews. He also had a special friend, Luanne Mahnesmith, who loved and cared for him during his last year.
He was preceded in death by his father in 2003 and his wife in 2015.
Kent graduated from Peoria High School. He moved to Maquon in 1976 and finally settled in Gilson. He worked at Laurel Greens Golf Course in Knoxville. Later, he went to work for Gunther Products in Galesburg, which was bought out by A.E. Staley, Opta Foods, and most recently JRS, where he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor.
Kent (Mouse) had a deep love for his family and friends. He was a simple man. He didn't need or ask for much. He was a hard worker and loved the freedom of the road on his motorcycle whether by himself or with his wife, son, and friends. Kent was always there to lend a hand when someone needed help no matter what. He enjoyed working in his shop and watching car and bike shows and kicking back with friends around a fire knocking back a few "yellacans" (Miller High Life) and he enjoyed attending ABATE events.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gilson Fire Department. Online condolences, memories and photos can be shared at www.h-p-w.com on Kent’s tribute page.
