Mr. Lytle J. Kistler, 93, of Galesburg, Illinois formerly of Brownsville, Texas and Victoria, Illinois passed away at 4:06 am Monday, February 26, 2018 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born December 7, 1924 in Aledo, Illinois the son of Ivan and Mabel Norton Kistler. He married Janet Irene Thomas of Illinois City, Illinois in February of 1947. She preceded him in death.
Lytle is survived by his two sons, Dennis (Karen) Kistler of Galesburg and Roger (Beth) Kistler of Dallas, Texas; his daughter-in-law, Geraldine Kistler of Galesburg; his two brothers, Wendell (Janet) Kistler of Buffalo Prairie, Illinois and Rex (Donna) Kistler of Utica, New York; ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Arlan, his brother, Garth, and his sister, Marjorie.
Lytle served in the US Army in Germany during WWII. While serving he was wounded and awarded a Purple Heart.
Lytle was a mechanic his entire working life. He was a member of the United Mine Workers and retired from the coal mines in Victoria.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in Buffalo Prairie, Illinois. Cremation will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
