Michael Irv Tolle, 65 of Normal, formerly of Dixon and Abingdon, passed away at 12:38 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019 at his home in Normal, after a courageous three-and-a-half year fight with pancreatic cancer.
He was born August 5, 1953 in Galesburg, the son of Irvin Glenn Tolle and Marjorie Chaldene (Duncan) Tolle. After the death of Mike’s mother, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Kathleen Tolle. He married Renee A. Worrell on August 19, 1972 in Dixon.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Renee; three daughters, Kimberly S. (and Marty) Barman, Megan A. (and Branden Stanley) Tolle and Erin L. (and Jason) Link all of Normal; six grandchildren, Ethan, A.J., Olivia, Max, Elliotte, and Michael Duncan; his siblings, Sharon (and Bill) Hillison of Tallahassee, Florida, Patti Swanson of Dixon, Bill (and Linda) Carrington of Neenah, Wisconsin, and Jean Turner of Dixon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, one sibling, Kathy Carrington, and one brother-in-law, Al Turner.
Mike graduated from Dixon High School in 1971 and attended Sauk Valley Community College. He moved with his family to the Abingdon area in 1980 and worked at Fayhee Implement Dealership in Prairie City. He later worked in parts/service at several area car dealerships, including Bob Lindsay’s in Galesburg and Peoria. He had lived in Normal since 2003. He was member of the former Congregational Church in Abingdon and was raised in the Disciples of Christ faith. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on the beach at Cape San Blas, FL.
Cremation will be accorded. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Abingdon United Methodist Church, 401 N. Washington St. in Abingdon, followed by his celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Rev. Nancy Wilson will officiate. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
