Mr. Omer A. Martinson

Mr. Omer Martinson, 86 of Galesburg passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2019.

Omer was an avid arborist, planting tens of thousands of trees on his beloved farm.

His joy was to share his knowledge of trees and plants with family and friends and to take the grandkids to the farm and have them fish in the “grandkids” pond that was well stocked with nice “Keepers” that were fed daily.

He loved to fish and hunt and spend as much time outdoors as possible. 

He was a diehard Cub fan and enjoyed listening to big band music.

He proudly served his country during the Korean War and the City of Galesburg Fire Department retiring in 1982.  He managed the local billboard company for many years, which changed names multiple times under his tenure. 

He is survived by this wife of sixty three years, Bobbie and their dog Misty.  Brother, Gene Martinson, sisters, Joan Reisenbigler, and Jeanette Shulz. Sons, Tim (Faith), Roger (Lesa), favorite daughter, Anna Moore.  Grandkids, David Martinson, Jackie Martinson, Beth Clark, Aubrey Martinson, Jake Martinson, Dan Moore, Michael Moore, Jon Peterson, Michael Driscoll. He was blessed with 9 great grandchildren.

He was proceed in death by one son, Michael, his mother Ellen, sister Elenor and brothers Ted, Arnold and Julian.

He was a member of the Victoria American Legion and the Altona Immanuel Lutheran Church.

There will be private family services held.  The family asks that any memorials be made to the Altona Immanuel Lutheran Church. Cremation will be accorded.
