Mr. Perry K. Wickline

Perry K. Wickline, 58, of Galesburg, died Monday, February 26, 2018 at University of Chicago Medical Center.

He was born October 11, 1959, in Galesburg, the son of Alfred L. and Dorothy V. (Schroeder) Wickline.  He married Sherry L. Olson on October 8, 1983, in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sherry; his father, Alfred of Galesburg; three children, Aaron (fiancée Meagan Grimm) Wickline, Stephanie Wickline, and Christine Wickline, all of Galesburg; a sister, Cheryl (Donald) Berg of Comstock Park, Michigan; and a brother-in-law, Richard Countryman of Crossroads, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy and a sister, Debra.

Perry lived in Galesburg his whole life.  He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1978 and earned his associates degree in Auto Mechanics from Carl Sandburg College.  He began his mechanic career at J.C. Penney Garage and then Weaver-Yemm.  Perry went to work for Illinois Power as a mechanic in 1987 and worked his way to Gas Crew Leadman with Ameren IP. 

Perry was an active member of Colonial Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.  He was a member of Local 51 Union, the Little John Conservation Club, and the NRA.  Perry enjoyed raising cattle, hunting, attending St. Louis Cardinals games, and spending time with family and friends.  Perry didn’t know a stranger and was well thought of by those who knew him.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018 at Colonial Baptist Church.  Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the church.  Pastor Darrell Grimm will officiate.  Burial will be in Henderson Grove Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is handling arrangements for the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
