Mr. R. Duane Kalb

Mr. R. Duane Kalb, 85 of rural St. Augustine, passed away at 5:38 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2018 at his home. 

He was born October 21, 1933 at the family homestead in Indian Point Township south of Abingdon, the son of Raymond Edward and Margaret Laura (Button) Kalb.  He married June Martin in 1954 in Roseville.

Duane is survived by his loving wife, June; his children, Greg (and Rita) Kalb of East Moline, David (and Sherri) Kalb of Montrose, Iowa and Sandy (and Tony) Haase of Gilson; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (and Jerri) Kalb of West Burlington, Iowa and Ted (and Liz) Kalb of Pennsylvania; one sister, Linda Miller of Roseville; and nieces, nephews, cousins and families.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

He graduated from Roseville High School in 1951.  He was an Army Veteran.  He had lived in the Roseville and Monmouth areas, but mostly in rural St. Augustine.  He worked for farm related companies such as Abingdon Milling and was also self-employed.  He enjoyed woodworking and camping.

Cremation will be accorded.  To celebrate his life, the family will receive relatives and friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Abingdon American Legion Post #381, 546 IL Route 41 in Abingdon.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
