Mr. Randal E. Storm, 70, of Rio, Illinois died at 8:36 am Saturday, October 6, 2018 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born January 25, 1948 in Mitchell, South Dakota the son of Norman William and Harriet Teresa Miller Storm. He married Tanalee Battista on January 5, 1973 in South Dakota. He later married Julie Lake-Patch on July 15, 2000 in Rio, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are his five sons, Corey (Michelle) Storm of Gilson, Illinois, Aaron (Stacey) Storm of Lexington, Illinois, Brian (Michelle) Storm of Dahinda, Illinois, Jeremy Storm of Waveland, Indiana and Logan Patch of Rio, Illinois; his daughter, Carrie Patch of Chicago, Illinois; five sisters, Katie (Marv) Clites of Stickney, South Dakota, Nancy (Ron) Hollmann of Ogallala, Nebraska, Mary Beth (Rick) Pudwill of Brandon, South Dakota, Jodi (Mick) Schrank of Corsica, South Dakota and Kelly (Darren) Kuyper of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; seven grandchildren, Mike Butts, Mekinzie and Caleb Storm, Kylie and Ethan Storm, Ava and Noah Storm and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Randy worked as a superintendent at the Mary Davis Home in Galesburg for many years, retiring in 2004. He also was a substitute teacher for the ROWVA schools. Randy and Julie owned and operated the Blue Rose Café in Rio for 10 years. There he enjoyed the comradery with all their customers. He loved to help others, completing many odd jobs. He attended Douglas and Aurora County country schools, graduating from Stickney South Dakota High School in 1966. He then graduated from Southern State College in Springfield, South Dakota. He was a member of the Rio Presbyterian Church, where he was a former trustee and currently an elder. Randy loved to hunt, fish and garden. He truly enjoyed watching sports with Julie, he especially enjoyed the rivalry they shared between the Cubs and Cardinals.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:30 am Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Rio Presbyterian Church. Rev. Maura McGrath-Nagle will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will follow services. Family has requested casual dress for those attending services. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial fund in his name at a later date.
